STM: changing the nursery decor?

Are any STMs keeping the same nursery as they had with prior children? I have thought about keeping it the same (pirates) but I did find another set that I really like and would change up the room (ocean themed). I have the money I just don't know if I can justify spending it when the pirate decor is in perfect condition. If you are changing, why and if not, why not?

Re: STM: changing the nursery decor?

  • I am changing because I'm having the opposite sex this time. Dd had butterflies. DS will have safari animals and trains. I am using the same furniture, just different colors.

  • I'm changing up some of the accents. The overall color scheme is staying the same. DD's ABC wall will be going into her big girl room as will her decorations over her crib. I then will be doing a baseball theme with the decorations in the nursery for DD.

We're keeping most things the same mostly because we don't really go all out with nurseries like most do. Bedding is the same and everything minus sheets was made by my mom. Decals and name on the wall is NMS so neither kid had/will have that.

  • We don't really have a theme, so we're keeping it exactly the same.  We just moved our youngest into our oldest's room, and his old room will be the same for the new baby.  It's neutral (and we're team green, so it has to be!)

We don't start really decorating until they're toddlers, and we try to go with an older theme so we don't have to change it again too soon.

  • We painted big squares on one wall (like a big checkerboard) for DD with 2 different browns, 2 different pinks and white. For DS, we are going to paint over the pink squares with 2 different greens. :) Easy peasy. Other than that, not really.

I'm not changing anything bc I'm lazy/busy and still like it. DD's nursery is green with a few woodland creatures here and there. That's just fine for a boy too.
  • We're putting both boys into one room. I never did anything special with ds1 room but his bedding is vintage cars that my aunt made him. This baby has mustaches for his bedding.
I think the only thing I plan on doing is hanging there intials on the wall, putting up some sheleves to display stuff. I also made a mustache mobile for over ds2 crib.

  • We're leaving it the same - jungle theme.  All three have had the same theme (a few new pieces here and there).  We specifically chose something gender-neutral with the first so we could use it for subsequent babies.

  • I've changed it for all 3 kids but I didn't get the expensive bedding sets for the last 2. Just changed the colors and the sheets and some different accents. I kept it much more simple after my first.

  • DS1 is keeping the same room, and DS2's nursery is already a completely different color, so I'm changing things up rather than keeping the same bedding. We mostly just go by color "theme" anyway ... for DS1 it was green and brown, for DS2 it will be yellow and gray (green walls, yellow walls). Once DS1 is in his full-size bed, I'm planning to sell his bedding set because it's still in great condition.

  • We are keeping the nursery the same. We picked a neutral theme for future babies. DS will get a new big boy room in the next few weeks.

DS will stay in his room.  We will decorate our other room for LO.

  • We're keeping the same theme, nautical, and decorating the large room across the hall for the new baby. DS1 will stay in his room and we will eventually move him into the large room with his younger brother. I just can't justify spending money on decor when I already had to buy a new set of furniture and the old set is in perfect condition. We have filled in with a few pieces that we've collected, but not buying new bedding and such.

The rooms are both cream on top and navy blue below with nautical accents. Changing the decor to something else as they grow will be easy I think.
