Complete Awwing my weekend.

So this is first weekend that DH has been off 3 days off (or even the regular weekend) off in a long time. Due to Dr's visits during the week, he has been working weekends to take off to take Reese to the doctors.

Our weekend was almost "normal"----it was/is WONDERFUL.

I seriously haven't felt this relaxed since before everything happened. We have been getting a LOT of stuff done around the house. Last night we went out to dinner with Reese. (We haven't done that in months--especially on a weekend). Today, we stopped by her friend's house (well our friends too!) and let the girls play for an hour or so together since we will be missing the birthday party most likely next weekend. We took Reese to Toys R Us. We grilled for dinner and ate outside. My BIL/SIL and niece came over for dinner. Tomorrow DH and I will be going to the movies with friends and my brother will be babysitting.

It seriously has been an amazing weekend. Unfortunately reality will hit again this Wednesday---but I try not to think about it.

I'm glad you guys got some normal!

My dad was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma and I am now realizing the magnitude of everything that is involved with cancer/chemo/labs. It must 100 times more difficult with a child.

I'm so glad Reese is doing well and continued well wishes for your family's future.

I am sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he has an easy treatment road ahead of him.

Truthfully the hardest thing right now is the weekly (and sometimes more!) doctors appointments. Reese's doctor is an hour and fifteen minutes away and we are there weekly at the very least. Luckily, she really doesn't seem to mind the drive anymore, but it is still hard.

@Starearedkid‌ Thanks. They are very optimistic about his treatment plan.

He is 63 and had never been admitted to the hospital before all of this. He is the one that does all of the errands and pet care and household chores. It has been quite an adjustment for everyone!

  • It sounds amazing. Weekends like that can do soooo much to your overall mental health and help get you through when things are rough.

    Glad you got yours!
