Move over Gwyneth!

Well, I certainly learned something new today.  Apparently I am not a good mother (according to Emma Thompson).  GTFO ma'am.

    I agree. ^^
  • I see articles like this and wonder "hmm, I wonder what she actually said in what way". Things are skewed so easily and wildly, it's hard for me to believe anything anymore. :-?

Okay, I guess I'll play the devil's advocate. She said you can't "be a great mum and keep working ALL THE TIME". Not "you can't be a great mom and work". She was fortunate enough to take off some time to focus on her child. She was probably working overtime and then some on movie sets because Emma Thompson is in a TON of movies. Maybe she was just giving her personal account of the joy she felt getting to spend more time being just a mom for a year, rather than making a blanket statement about working mothers. Privileged, fortunate? Certainly, but I don't see why that is a reason to rip her apart.

I totally agree. The media has such a habit of quoting out of context to make something seem worse than it actually is.
