When did/will you stop using the newborn insert in the tub? DD is 2 months old today, abd lives her baths...just wondering when we should ditch the mesh insert. Any advice on the transition?
With DD1 we were given a second hand tub and it didn't have an insert and we used it from day 1. You can put a large wash cloth/towel/sponge under her for traction.
We stopped using it after her second bath (so around 1 1/2 weeks). I felt it was more challenging to bathe her with it in the way. Now we just hold her. I will say that I've never given her a bath alone. My DH and I do it together. So maybe that's why we're all set not using the insert.
I think technically it's until they can sit on their own. But hinestly as long as you are supporting them it doesnt matter. There are several tubs that dont ever come with one. Ill continue to use it until then just because it is easier for me. But I bathe her alone.

My DD is 5 wks and we ditched the sling a couple of weeks ago. It was more challenging to keep her in it once she got a little bigger. She does fine without it. As the pp wrote, you can use a washcloth to make it less slippery. Ours has a non-slip surface under her back so she is fine without a cloth. I can an eye and a hand on her at all times anyway.
I bathe with my LO. So much easier. Set her playmat on the floor while I shower. Then start a shallow bath and pull her right in. I tried the infant bath for about 3 weeks and it is such a hassle. She enjoys bath time so much more now
We received a hand me down infant tub with mesh insert and I'm so glad we did! It makes it much easier for me to bathe her on my own. It just seems a lot more comfy for her as well.
I'm planning on using it until she can sit up on her own. We'll probably start doing kitchen sink baths after that.
I'm borrowing my niece's old one until she gets better with her head and then we will cobathe. I never got an infant sling but she's always been fine without it. I almost always keep a hand on her head anyway.

Then we had you.
Now we are complete.
