Holiday Weekend Workouts

How's everyone doing? Yesterday I worked, but today when I went for my swim at 10:20, I realized there was an 11 a.m. yoga class, so I got 20 laps in and then went to yoga for an hour! It felt amazing.

Then I came home and we went to Fuzzy's for fish tacos. They were excellent.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to get a 4 mile run in in the morning before we go out shopping for baby things.

Is everyone staying on track this weekend?

Re: Holiday Weekend Workouts

  • I haven't done jack this weekend except work in the yard and clean the house. I plan on trying my hardest to get my regular workout in tomorrow, and if not at least a run. I kept my eating on track all weekend, but do plan on indulging in some wine tonight (and a slice if the cannoli tart I made!)

  • @BluepointToasted‌ , wine is important. It has antioxidants ;)

And I would run an extra mile for cannoli tart! Recipe?

  • I've been sucking wind on the workout front. I'm hoping I can get back on the wagon this week.

  • I've been fighting a nasty cough and congestion so I haven't been able to run. I might do some kind of strength workout once the baby goes to sleep.

  • We walked like 7 miles between today and yesterday, and also did house/yard work.

  • Did week 6 day 1 of C25k today and some arms afterward. First time I ran or did anything more than walk in a week. Eating hasn't been amazing. Just finished burger and ice cream. Whoops!

It was delish! Only thing I would do differently is to pre-bake the crust a bit before baking with the filling. The bottom crust was doughy. But everyone loved it!

  • I started C25K, except that nearly every day it has been torrential downpour. I have been getting it in around 7:30 in the morning and even though I HATE it, it seriously makes me more productive for the day.

I ran my first half marathon (and first race ever) today and killed it!  I was running 1 minute less per mile than I was in training.  The adrenaline and competitive nature kicked in!  I could barely walk after but am feeling much better now.  Tomorrow will be arms & shoulders and Tuesday will be back & chest.  DH is out of town Tues-Sat so I will be taking a few days off until he's back.  DS1 told me he was so proud of me for my race and getting my medal!  Makes all the hours of training and the pain after so worth it.

I want to love this so many times!!! I'm hoping to do a half or a whole marathon in Feb 2015 (my goal before I get pregnant again). I ran a 10-mile race 4 years ago, but my fitness has declined so much since then, so I have a lot of work to do. You should be so proud of yourself!

  • @BluepointToasted‌ , that looks so yummy! =P~
My MIL is from South Jersey, the land of cannolis, and for my rehearsal dinner she brought a cannoli cake, so I may make that tart for her when she visits in August.
...I also may make it tomorrow, just bc. And I tend to like doughy crusts, so it sounds perfect to me :)

  • I don't normally join these threads but I may as well? I've been doing really well with working out this weekend, but not so much with the eating. I'm a big night-eater, usually with crap foods, and I am having trouble stopping that. Finding the medium between extra cals for nursing and not overdoing it is the biggest challenge.

  • I'm more of a luker but I figured I might as well join in. I went for a run at lunch today and it felt soo good! I haven't done it in forever! I need to get back in to my 5am work outs too but I have been using my comfy bed as an excuse!
  • So I thought today was going to be a wash after forgoing my morning run in favor of Memorial Day shopping and a fatty breakfast, but at 5 pm I found the energy to go out. Only ran for 35 minutes rather than my goal of 40, but I'm just happy I went out.

I almost stepped on a two-and-a-half-foot snake, too. Scared the piss out of me.

    Literally.
    The piss.
    Right out of me.

    Damn stress incontinence.

  • LOL, @PrivacyWanted‌ , I spent a lot of time in college backpacking in the mountains of Pennsylvania, so I've seen my fair share of snakes, and usually they don't bother me so much. But now that I live in Texas, and there are more poisonous snakes that I know nothing about, I'm much more terrified. I will maybe stick to a treadmill for a few days until I forget about this.
