Re-Testing

Hello everyone!!

DW and I are almost back to TTCing after a loooong 14 month and counting break! Before the break we had 4 unsuccessful IUI's using Femera and trigger to boost my own surge.

Anywho we have a meeting with our RE this week to talk about trying again. Initially when I called the clinic and spoke with the nurse she said I would have to redo all the testing -blood work, investigative cycle and Sonohysterogram then she called and said that they have just changed their protocol and I no longer have to re-do testing. The only test that they had me do so far is the initial blood screen for STD's, rubella and whatever else they check the 8 vials of blood for!!

So I guess my question is, what have others done after taking a break?

Thank you for reading!

Re: Re-Testing

  • Welcome. I can't give you any advice about starting again after an extended break. Honestly though, if you have the health insurance coverage, it might not be a bad idea to redo the tests. You never know what might have changed. Feel free to join the TTC Check-In on Mondays.

  • I never took a break for more than a month or two, but it is my RE's policies to re-run all tests annually, whether you've been in active treatment or not.  As PP said, if your insurance covers it, why not?

  • Thank you Stacy and Ballandchain!!! I'm going to ask to re-test everything and do the investigative cycle again. I am in Canada so the blood work and ultrasounds are covered so I just have to pay $100 for the sono. Which I'm fine with. Better to be safe than sorry!

I think I will join TTC check in :) I've only been stalking the board forever! I had an old sign on but I cannot seem to log in, so I made a new account. The Bump kept telling me that it sent the password to me email but I never got it.

    Thanks again for your replies!!

  • Hi firstcomelove, I can't even remember exactly I think it was MissLeash or something like that. & I can't even find any of my old posts. Everything looks different to me and even weirder cause I do mostly everything from my phone. Ps. I still haven't received my password yet! lol Guess I was right in just creating a new profile. Just have to figure out how to add a profile pic from my phone! That should be fun!
