Rants/Raves:

GTKY: What do you do to celebrate Memorial Day? Is it Low Key or does your family have a big thing every year?

  • Week/Fruit: Jackfruit---40

I'm feeling quite pregnant, lots of contractions and pressure today----wonder if he'll make his appearance.

Appointment tomorrow, we'll see, scheduled for NST Thursday and Induction next week if he doesn't show up.

Rant: I'm out of clothes that fit

Rave: my family is really helping with all the stuff going on. I really appreciate them.

GTKY: We don't usually have anything big, this year my dad and his GF are coming over for dinner, this is the first time I'm meeting here outside of a public setting so we shall see how this goes.

  • Week/Fruit: Colin is one week old (to the minute as I type this).

How are you feeling? Babies? I'm starting to feel like myself again, tearing is healing well I think - sitz baths are an amazing treat I give myself once a day. I'm tired (obviously) and my back is starting to hurt from all the baby carrying and hunching to breastfeed. But emotionally I feel great.

    Appointments/Inductions/Updates?
We had an appointment with the lactation consultant this morning. We met with one before we left the hospital and went for a follow-up today (More below in raves). And we meet with the orthopedic specialist on Friday to get progress and a long-term plan for Colin's broken arm. We're very anxious for a better plan for wrapping it, since it's getting hot here and so much of his body wrapped up with tensor bandage all day long.

    Rants/Raves:
Rave: I was a bit apprehensive about being judged at our lactation appointment today (Colin will only latch with a nipple shield and I haven't been pumping as much as I should be to make up for that - I get the chance to pump once a day, twice if I am lucky). But the specialist was awesome and we actually got him to latch on both sides without the shield and she was very supportive about the whole thing. I'll be happy if I can keep up with the techniques she went over and he can learn to do this without so much coxing. We're definitely planning to use the tongue training techniques she showed us, so I think it's just going to make feeding a bit slower, but he already had his biggest meal ever at the appointment because he was latching so well!

GTKY: What do you do to celebrate Memorial Day? Is it Low Key or does your family have a big thing every year?
No memorial day here, but last weekend was Victoria day, so I had a baby on the holiday Monday. I'm sure from now on it will always be more family things since it will be around Colin's birthday every year.

  • Week/Fruit:
    Caroline is 3w5d old

    How are you feeling? Babies?
I've recovered quite well from the C/S, still get some aches after pushing it too far though. Baby is making sleep very difficult, though. She's up all night, and sleeping all day- just like the friggin' song. FML. She's doing well and passed her birth weight. She'll get fussy over tummy issues/gas pains every now and then, though.

    Appointments/Inductions/Updates?
I have my 4 week appointment on Wednesday, and Caroline has a pediatrician appointment tomorrow to check her weight and discuss how the formula change has gone.

    Rants/Raves:
Rant: DH needs to let us accept help from my mother- we can't keep running on fumes just because he has too much pride to ask for help. She keeps offering, please just say yes dude. I'm tired as hell!

GTKY: What do you do to celebrate Memorial Day? Is it Low Key or does your family have a big thing every year?
We celebrated yesterday. MIL made a huge meal with ribs, potato salad, corn on the cob, etc. I was in food heaven.

Week/Fruit:  40/ jackfruit. Due date here, too :(

How are you feeling? Babies?  Tired, randomly contracting, swollen.

Appointments/Inductions/Updates?  Tomorrow is the 40w appt, but Wednesday is likely to be baby day- going in for a "committed external cephalic version" under an epidural. If it works, we're inducing. If it doesn't, c-section is @ 10:30am.

Rants/Raves:  :) = DH got a new job and we're moving out of the apartment and into a house to rent until we can purchase. :( = Unfortunately, this means we'll be moving with an infant while possibly recovering from c-section, and DD1's 5th grade graduation and dance recital all going on the same week. CHAOS!!!! :) = DH is hiring movers and cleaners so I don't have to do much. thank goodness!

GTKY: What do you do to celebrate Memorial Day? Is it Low Key or does your family have a big thing every year?  Usually we head to a park and grill out if the weather is nice. No one has the energy this year, especially since we've started the packing process.

  • Thanks, @jjones59 for starting this--I didn't have the heart to yesterday :(

    Week/Fruit:
    41/still a jackfruit

How are you feeling? Babies? feeling like this baby will never come out

Appointments/Inductions/Updates? scheduled to be induced Thursday at 41 +3. I am dreading it--I wanted a natural birth and now I have to contend with multiple interventions.

Rants/Raves: Only rants at this point--I have no baby yet and I am terrified of an induction. Also, I did something to my back yesterday and now I can barely move. :(

GTKY: What do you do to celebrate Memorial Day? Is it Low Key or does your family have a big thing every year? We didn't do much--cooked out and took the dog for a  walk (this was before my back issues, ugh)
