Stretch marks!

Hi - 3rdTMom RCS tomorrow - wondering if anyone has dealt with stretch marks. I have never had them before but now have some red ones on the front of my stomach. Just showed up about a week ago. Do they go away or lighten over time? I do use cocoa butter now. Just curious if anyone has experiences to share. If I am stuck with them, it was worth it! TIA!

Re: Stretch marks!

  • I have gotten them on my belly AFTER delivery with both my kids. So cruel that they show up after baby is out. Mine do not go away. But some of my friends say theirs have disappeared after a time. I have had some on my boobs since I was a teenager. Never faded no matter what I did. I think it's just genetics. :(

  • I got pretty bad ones with DS1. They looked like claw marks all over my belly. He is just over 3 now and they lightened up a ton, you can see them but you really have to look. They were bright purple when I had him...I don't remember exactly when they faded, but they did. I didn't get any new ones this time, probably b/c I already stretched so much last time.

  • I didn't get stretch marks on my belly, but was allergic to an adhesive they used during my recent csection and blistered terribly from this!! The blisters have left far worse scars than my incision or anything else!! Just had to vent!!! I did get some stretch marks on my hips with this pregnancy and I have heard they will lighten over time. They are currently a light purple color.

I got terrible stretch marks with my first LO. They look awful (almost 6 years and 2 additional babies later). My OB said they are equivalent to a 3rd and 4th degree burn :(
Surgery will be my only fix.
I have several friends who had stretch marks and you can't even see them now (bitches, lol). Everyone is different though.

  • I got HORRIBLE stretch marks with my first daughter. I started getting them at 15 weeks when I had only gained 3 pounds and I ended up completely covered. DH jokes that it either looked like my stomach was on fire or that I had been attacked by a baby bear. They faded a little bit, but are still very noticeable (although I got pregnant when DD1 was 12 months old). I only got a few tiny ones this time, I don't know where else I could have gotten any more though! I hope they fade someday..

All scars/stretch marks will silver with time. I've had them since puberty.

I have a crap ton of them from DS1 and they have faded quite a bit. I have a few new ones from this baby, but I'm not worried about it. I was already resigned to never wearing a bikini again.  :))  It may take a long time, but eventually they will fade.

  • I got deep stretch marks across my lower stomach with DS1 because I gained so much weight. I had a few light ones on my hips since my teens. I used bio oil and almost completely got rid of even the worst of them. Lost 60 lbs before DS2 and did not get any new ones.

I didn't have them at all during pregnancy but after, they have appeared on my bum and thighs and light ones on my boobs.  ugh.

I got them with my first pregnancy and recently, I noticed them this pregnancy. I used bio-oil on a daily basis after my first. It lessened the red color of them, but did not make them disappear. I can still see them, but my husband cannot unless I physically point to them. This time, I'm using cocoa butter now and I'll use bio-oil after the baby is born. I'll probably keep using the cocoa butter as well. It smells nice.

My whole midsection looks like a war zone from my first. The color did fade, but they are definitely still there. :-/
