I haven't decided yet what I plan on wearing. I will most likely try on a few different options the day of. Old Navy has a really cute black dress with sleeves that I just bought, but I don't know if I want to wear all black for the shower.
Mine is June 22nd so I'll shop for a dress closer to then. I have two dresses that might work already so I'm hoping I won't even have to shop! I've still made it this far (27 weeks) without buying anything besides a new bra and a bella band. Im boycotting buying anything!
My circle of friends/family/church does baby showers after baby is born, usually about a month or so after. So it will be early fall, but if it's warm enough still I plan on wearing a maxi dress or skirt. If it's cold maybe just add a sweater or jacket. I have a navy and grey striped maxi dress I just bought from thyme maternity that is casual and comfy and I think would work as non maternity (or at least soon after baby is born) that I have in mind!
Thanks for the ideas, everyone. I'm trying to find something a little dressier; I wear maxi dresses almost every day, so I wanted to do something a little more formal. I have some fall back plans on a couple of websites, but I'm going to possibly have my mom make it (she's a part-time seamstress). I sent her a dress and we'll see what she can do with the fabric and patterns that are available. I can't justify spending almost $200 on a maternity dress, which is what most of the one's that I like cost. Here's a link to the (non-maternity) dress that I'm loving, though I want to do it in ivory or a pale color:
Im wearing a maxi dress from target. It isnt maternity but fit nicely. I had a hard time too. I considered a maxi skirt also. Although I just read you didnt want to do maxi...thatd be tough.

Ya, if I could find a maxi that is dressier, I wouldn't mind wearing it. The "dressier" ones though are $100+… sigh.
I wore a teal maxi dress from target to a wedding this weekend, my arms have gotten huge so I had to wear a cardigan over it... But I got a lot of compliments. Except my husband who said, "you look really pregnant." To which I sarcastically responded, "thanks for finally noticing!!"
After trying on a ton at Pea in the Pod I ended up ordering this one off of Amazon from Seraphine Maternity: https://www.seraphine.com/us/front-knotted-3-4-sleeve-dress-orchid.html Loved it- comfy, easy to wear and flattering. It was a dressier event so my normal Old Navy wouldn't have worked. I can also use it for work if I want. I wanted a dress down to my knees more A-linely that fit my boobs in it and that was hard to find.
I actually got a second dress for our maternity photos and both of them combined were still less than the only dress that fit and looked cute from Pea in the Pod (I had also shopped GAP, Target, Old Navy, and the Goodwill). This one: https://www.seraphine.com/us/purple-knot-front-maternity-dress.html
If you look at those two- if it will be hot get the short sleeves. It was unseasonably warm at my shower and I was a bit hot in the sun with the long sleeve one. But it was perfect for our misty/cloudy anniversary dinner a few nights later.
I was definitely considering a few Seraphine dresses… the shorter sleeve one is my current back up!

Whatever I wear must be sweat proof though lol.
