A place to share memories of your favorite active or veteran military man/woman, or to share memories of your favorite part of this holiday! Happy Memorial Day, everyone!
My grandfather served in the Royal Army against Desert Fox in WWII. He was mostly deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other because of where the guns on his tank were, so you had to make sure you were talking to the correct side. He was an amazing, loving man who I miss very much. My last time seeing him, he had no idea who I was but was very nice because he knew I had flown a long way to see him. While I hated seeing him in that state, I will never regret giving myself a chance to say goodbye.
Best part of the holiday is always my home town parades! Seeing people I haven't seen all year (namely my dad's extended family) and getting cotton candy. We're skipping the drive down this year, and going to our town's parade instead. I hope I can give C (and soon Charlie as well!) the same sorts of memories that I have.

Re: Memorial Day Memories
He was such an old school, tough guy from a great generation of men. They don't make them like that anymore.
