Bath seat.

I've been looking for a decent way to take a bath with DD or just have her sitting in the bath so she can play (with me right beside her of course)..

I can't seem to find ANY here at all and I'm having a hard time finding them online because of the whole debacle about whether or not they are safe. Everyone keeps telling me they tip over and are unsafe.

I feel like if I'm right there with her in the tub or beside the tub, and not using it as a means of safety and security while I leave her side it would be fine..

What does S13 think?!

Re: Bath seat.

  • I would use a laundry basket but I wouldn't fit in our bath with it. She also isn't the greatest at sitting, she still throws herself back every now and again, and today she leaned forward too much and flew on her belly.

DD isn't climbing, crawling it standing yet either so I seen it and thought it would be perfect until everyone started telling me it's dangerous.

  • We got one of these, it looks huge in that picture but it's not. I just put it in my tub and fill it up, then she can sit up and play too without me worrying about whacking her head on the tub. image
  • We are still using the infant tub that she's always had in our tub. She is perfectly capable of sitting on her own, but I prefer the infant tub bc it saves water.

This is pretty awesome! Would defeat the point of bathing with her but it looks pretty enjoyable! Is it just enough space for baby in there or is there lots of room for them to slip around? I'm so paranoid because A sometimes leans to much forward and falls onto her belly or throws herself backwards.

Here's a picture of my LO in the tub so you can get a better idea of the size of it:) She's 15lbs, she doesn't slide around in it much at all. Yeah you can't really get in there with them, but it is great for baths on their own.

  • I am still using the infant tub but we will be moving up to the duck in the next month or so. She sits well on her own but I am nervous to use the full size tub since it gets slippery.

My sister had a seat for my nephew when he was a baby that looks just like the one you posted. This was 20 years ago. It had suction cups on the bottom. It worked fine for them. It's probably one of those things that people say are dangerous because of people who don't use them correctly or don't supervise the baby when using it.

I think we are getting ready to have DD sit in the big tub without the infant tub in there that we use now. I want to get something to put on the bottom of the tub first so it isn't slippery.

*Edit: she sits up very well on her own these days. If she wasn't, then that type of seat is something I'd consider.

Do you blow it up each time? That's actually so neat, I can picture myself using it on the kitchen floor as a swimming pool though.

ETA: careful with those blocks in the water they get moldy inside! :(

Nope I just leave it blown up because I bathe her so often. Haha I'm thinking in summertime it will make a nice little outdoor pool too! Thanks for the heads up about the blocks :)

We used the inflatable duck for DS1, as he used to fling himself backwards too, for DS2 we used the bath seat below until he could sit up, now we just sit him on a non slip mat in the bath, although we still have bath pillows behind him in case he falls, but he hasn't nw for a long time:

I'm going to buy that same bath seat, I just haven't yet. When I was a nanny for triplets that is what we used to bathe them. They were never left alone, as a baby shouldn't ever be but that seat helped a lot and they were able to play as usual.

I think it's better than any other thing out there - my opinion.
