Bending/squatting down still?

How are y'all doing bending and squatting down? I'm chasing after a two year old on vacation so I feel like I don't have much of a choice but people have commented they are surprised I'm still moving so well. Honestly the hardest part is like my own shoes or bending straight over to get something off the floor. But squatting down to her level is so much easier than picking her up so I'm still doing it. Hey, maybe it will help labor?

Yeah, I have a 2 year old too. I have found too that squatting is easier than bending over. I'm so glad the weather is warmer, so I can just put on flip flops instead of bending over to tie shoes!

DH painted my toenails last night because I couldn't bend anymore. Other than that I'm still playing pretty normally with my 3 year old. I'm really tired of people telling me I shouldn't ever pick him up though. He weighs 31 lbs and I've been picking him up daily for 3.5 years. I'm pretty sure my body would tell me to stop if I need to. It's not like I lift him constantly these days.

  • I too am chasing an almost 2 year old. Squatting is easier but I do find getting up from squatting a little difficult. I creek like an 80 yr old woman.

  • Squatting is way easier than bending but I can still bend too.

  • I dropped a pencil on the floor the other way at work and just stared at it for awhile before figuring out how to pick out up. DH has to help me with some shoes.

  • I'm a CNA so I'm.constantly squatting down to change pants and take off shoes for others. And bending over to give showers. Squatting is definitely easier. I havent had much trouble yet. I work with a girl due in 5 days and she's still working so I'm confident I'll be able to continue until I'm due. It certainly isn't an easy job let alone while being pregnant.

Yes she's over 30 lbs and I still pick her up but I'm trying to limit it because I won't be able to always carry her with the LO around. My friend ended up with a hernia though from picking up her toddler during pregnancy.

DD is just over 20lbs. She sits on the bump and I'm sure this kid is going to come out all squished.
I just have trouble getting up off the floor. Squatting to clean up toys is easier than bending over because I can still breathe.

  • Bending is uncomfortable, my belly gets in the way!  I think I bend more than squat though.  I don't have any issues picking up my 2 year old (28 lbs).  He still likes to be picked up a lot.

  • I'm all about squatting down to get things or doing the toe grab lift thing. Bending over is getting very difficult and I've started leaving my sneakers tied and wiggling my feet into them.

Honestly, everything hurts and is a pain for me. Maybe because I have a baby in my ribs and sitting low as well. It just feels like I'm not able to bend at all. I have a better shot at squatting, but it's difficult to get back up. I cleaned the bathroom today, and I told DH I did everything but scrubbed the bottom of the toilet because I wouldn't make it back up. LOL I get down on myself when I hear you guys are still doing so well! I guess it's because I'm measuring about 37 weeks now. But still! I feel like a bum!

This.  Except I don't even bother with the sneakers anymore, it's all clogs for work and flip-flops for home.

I work with 24 2 year-olds, so I am still squatting and bending every day.  Squatting is not easy by any means, but not much more difficult than before I grew the Billy belly.  When I bend, I can really only do it if I am leaning over with one arm braced on something like one of the toddler sized tables; it's really uncomfortable to just lean over to pick things up off of the floor.  I kick stuff on the floor alot at work instead of picking it up or I'll have one of the kids "Be my big helper and pick up the car, please."  At home it's the toe grab or the husband picking little things I drop up, or picking up my purse off of the chair next to me at Starbucks.

I prefer sitting. If I have the chance to sit to pick anything up or put something on, I do. I have trouble getting up when I squat :/

I still do both. I have two little ones to run after and they require bending, squatting, and lifting. It's funny to me when people comment on what I should/shouldn't do - bending, lifting, etc. I mean what exactly are my options. I don't do anything unnecessary outside of taking care of them, but some restrictions are a bit of a challenge in real life.

  • I still do both, but squatting is definitely getting to be easier than bending over. I find bending when I'm sitting (like in the car) particularly difficult
  • I'm having issues with putting on pants shoes socks... My left leg is easier than my right for some reason
  • shevaCCshevaCC member
Yup, bending over is a pain. Squatting isn't so bad, though I struggle to pick up my 2-year-old DD from a squat sometimes. Lately when she's seen me trying to get up from sitting on the floor or something else low, she'll take my hand and tug on it to try to help me get up. It's adorable and sweet so usually that distracts me from the struggle and discomfort of getting off the ground.
  • I have a 2 year old too. But I've always been a squatter. I think it's from all my years as a flight attendant. You squat instead of bending over to avoid people staring at your ass or lewd remarks.

DH shaves me now. He said he wants to keep doing it even when I'm not pregnant. He's proud of his work;)

And we had to dress up last week and I couldn't buckle my heels. A little girl playing with my daughter, fastened them and DH unfastened them when we got home.

  • @Raclla‌ lmfao ! I don't have a LO squishing my bump, but when sleeping on my left side I sometimes partially move to stomach sleep position-but only squishing the left side of my bump. My bump is lopsided now-protruding more on the right side. Whoops.

  • squatting is definitely preferable, I still can bend but it's not as convenient and my middle feels all squished. getting my feet close enough/at the right angle to tie laces or put on socks is becoming more problematic... soon enough my choices will be slip-on (flip flops or Danskos) or barefoot
