New moms:
How is everything going? Any updates on you or babies?
QOTD: What's the most annoying "twin comment" you've heard from strangers so far?
Re: *Thurs 5/22 Twin Mom Check In*
2) Upcoming appts? Just had one today. Next one is next Thursday, a normal OB and ultrasound.
3) Any updates to share? The boys are still breech(A) and transverse (B). Their heartbeats are a little lower than usual though (I noticed, Dr didn't mention it.) They didn't gain very much this week. He checked my cervix, no dilation or effacing. My PUPPPs is getting worse though. x(
4) Go ahead and let it out - how are you REALLY feeling? PUPPPs needs to go straight to hell. And whoever decided that pregnant moms need to hurt EVERYWHERE needs to be throatpunched. My tailbone hurts, my entire back is killing me. I feel like I pulled a muscle in my vagina bc every time I walk or move my legs it hurts. And the weather in AL needs to cool the hell down. 88degrees is not ok when I don't have AC and have to suffer through it.
5) Any questions for other twin moms? Not today. Feeling too stabby to think of a question.
QOTD: What's the most annoying "twin comment" you've heard from strangers so far?
Heard this when I was sitting in the waiting room this morning:
"How many are you having? Cuz there is no way that's just one baby."
Yeah, I'm having twins, but I don't need you reminding me that I look like a frigging hippo.
That and the "I am so sorry" that I constantly get when people find out I am having twin boys. That really irks me. They're not some effing curse.
2) Upcoming appts? Tomorrow I have a growth scan and NST. I'm hoping to see nice chunky monkeys in here!
3) Any updates to share? As of Tuesday I was 2cm and 60%, which could mean something or nothing haha. We checked for pre-e since I'm a huge swollen high blood pressurey mess. Luckily my blood work came back good on that, so yay. I am pretty bummed though because after hearing that there should be no problems with me making it all 38 weeks I'm now being told to expect to go into labor this week or next week. Ah! So new goal is 36 weeks. We're more than ready, I am just nervous they're going to be very little. But then I look at our preemies on the board and they're doing amazing, so that makes me happy!
4) Go ahead and let it out - how are you REALLY feeling? Like crap. I can't tell RLP from BHs or BHs from contractions, but it's all painful lol! My feet are so swollen it hurts to walk on them and all the weight I've put on is killing my knees. Getting up/down and rolling over hurts the pelvis and the past few days baby A's pressure on my vag is really annoying. I pretty much just chill on the recliner and bump and watch crappy TV shows at this point
5) Any questions for other twin moms? If your baby A were head down and baby B were breech, would you attempt a vaginal delivery?
QOTD: What's the most annoying "twin comment" you've heard from strangers so far? So many. The one that irritates me the most is also the "Twins? I'm sorry" comment. I also get a lot of "Twins, instant family!" comments or people asking if we're going to try for a boy next. Because you know, we have a say over such things 8-| I'm also admittedly sensitive when people say I look small to be carrying twins. I'm tall and Amazonian size, so the babies have a lot of room to roam. But it makes me worried that the girls' aren't big and strong. Silly!
If baby A flips (which I feel like he never will!!!!) I will def try for a vaginal delivery.
Has anyone else had an issue (if their baby A is breech) with baby A kicking their bladder to the point of extreme pain? I am SO TIRED of Connor kicking me. I'll be in the middle of a BH and Connor will kick my bladder and make me freak thinking I'm going into labor. Idk lol I feel like I have way too much complaining going on, when I should be thankful that I'm at almost 36w with absolutely no signs of impending labor, but I'M SO WORN OUT.
2) Upcoming appts? NST and Dr appointment tomorrow.
3) Any updates to share? Today is my last day of work!!!!!
4) Go ahead and let it out - how are you REALLY feeling? Still crappy. Sleep seems like a memory from long ago and I'm generally just very uncomfortable.
5) Any questions for other twin moms? Not that I can think of right now........
QOTD: What's the most annoying "twin comment" you've heard from strangers so far? From someone I had JUST met 10 seconds earlier....the annoying "are they natural?" question. Ugh, F off! We did IVF but why is that the business of some random stranger? Like my hubby says, when people are bold enough to ask how we ended up with twins, he replies by saying we did it twice in one night. Hahahaha!
It's totally ok to complain and be worn out. This is your safe zone
@chrissy1013 omg I love your husband's answer! I may have to steal that haha!
@quinncat I hate hearing that too "Oh you're not big, I was your size when I was 7 months pregnant!" Uh huh, ok lady!
I may have to Dr. Google the crap out of this now, because if I have high BP in labor a vaginal delivery may not be the best way to go anyways!
О Привязать! Z!
О Привязать! Z!
Thanks for the insight on vaginal vs c section! Did you end up getting spared the double whammy? I hope it's ok I ask, I know you had a rough delivery!
2) Upcoming appts? OB on Friday 5/23
3) Any updates to share? Had my last ultrasound today. Baby "A" - my boy Jack is measuring at 6lbs 8oz and Baby "B" - my girl, Lennon is measuring at 6lbs 5oz! They are both breeched and I feel so bad because they look like they literally have no room!
I've been on BP meds since the beginning of the pregnancy and although my numbers have been good they are starting to creep up lately. Had a 24 hr ursine test and should have results from my OB tomorrow. I'm super swollen and my limbs start to get tingly when I'm standing too long.
4) Go ahead and let it out - how are you REALLY feeling? Horrible! I really hate complaining but everything is a challenge. I attempt to clean the house but have to sit down every 10 minutes or so. Also, the rolling over in bed can bring tears to my eyes. Ugh
О Привязать! Z!
Eta I hope your results come back good!!!
1) How far along are you and how far along are you measuring? 35w2d. I haven't been measured in a while, but the babies are so low that I don't think I am measuring super far ahead. I lost a couple lbs by this appt (not intentional- sick a lot + reflux + no room).
2) Upcoming appts? I have a NST and growth scan on Tues. Looking forward to seeing how big these girls are!
3) Any updates to share? I had a false alarm trip to L&D on Tues…that was fun. I am about 2 cm dilated and they are really low, but I still very well could make my C-section date (13 days!)
4) Go ahead and let it out - how are you REALLY feeling? So.much.pain. My pelvis and pubic bones and hips and cervix just HURT whenever I am on my feet at all. I am only remotely comfortable if laying down, and even then turning hurts so much.
5) Any questions for other twin moms? Is anyone else just really nervous? People keep asking me if I am excited for the babies to come and I am having a hard time answering. I am excited to not be pregnant anymore. And I am excited to meet my girls. But I am downright terrified about life with newborn twins. The moments where I feel genuinely "excited" are rare because all I can think about is the logistics and how hard it will be. And then I feel like a bad mom.
QOTD: What's the most annoying "twin comment" you've heard from strangers so far? I have heard that there is no way I will make it until June (this was like 2 months ago) and the guy refused to understand that it is normal to be big when there are 2 in there. Now, I constantly hear "you look too good for having twins," which I guess is a sweet compliment, but makes me feel like maybe if I start trying to look worse maybe these people will take pity on me and come clean my house and bring me food ;-).
And when it comes to the excitement/nervousness... I am right there with you. I am excited, yes. But I am terrified. Terrified for a csection, terrified for life with newborn twins, terrified of being a bad mom... again I say, you are not alone.
Went to my OB appointment on Friday morning and was just feeling blah. I was dialated only a fingertip and was 50% effaced and measuring 48 weeks. My BP was up a bit (which had been creeping up in the days prior - it has been under control the whole pregnancy with meds) and I had a large amount if protein in my urine. My OB told me if I started to have steady contractions for at least an hour to give her a call and she would send me over to L&D as she was on call all weekend. I continued on with my day as it was my mom's 55th birthday and I had decided to take her to lunch along with my Grandma. I started to have contractions during lunch but didn't want to worry my mom so kept my feelings to myself. Of course HER mommy instincts kicked in and could tell something was wrong with HER little girl. We started to time the contractions and they were getting steady and closer together. I called my OB and she said to head on into L&D. This was around 4:30. I had called my husband and he works only about 15 minutes from the hospital so decided to meet us there instead of going home first to grab a shower, take care of the due babies and grab our bags (we had had a few uneventful trips to L&D before so he thought this would probably be another). They hooked the babies up and started to check my BP. First reading was 165/120!!! Babies looked good and HB were good. Not a whole lot was said to us just that they took my urine and ran some blood work and were going to check with my OB and let us know what was going on. Next thing I knew at 7:45PM the OB on call popped in and said, "When was the last time you ate?" ... It was then I knew they were going to get these babies out! Everything happened so fast after that! I knew for months that I was going to need a C-Section but I still thought I had 10 days to prep! Next thing I knew I was being wheeled into the OR getting prepped for surgery! The spinal did not hurt at all and everyone was in a good mood and joking around which put me at ease. The anestegialogist was great and put some Beatles on to jam out to during the section. My babies came into the world while, "Here Comes the Sun" was playing! ❤️
Baby "A" - Jack Norman came first at 8:59 PM weighing 5lbs 10oz and 17 3/4 in long . Baby "B" - Lennon Elizabeth came shortly after at 9:02 PM weighing 6lbs 2oz and 19in long.
My OB brought them each over to my face AS SOON as she pulled them put so I could see them first. They tended to both babies and cleaned them up and did their APGAR and measurements wrapped them up and handed them both to my husband while I was being "put back together". I never knew how much I could love 2 little people so much, so quickly!
Unfortunately both babies blood sugars were low so had to be taken from me in the recovery room to be evaluated right away. Jack's surgar was at 31 so he was able to be taken to the regular nursery and have it monitored to be brought back up. Lennon's sugar however did not even register so she had to be taken to the NICU
Jack cleared all of his blood sugar tests as of 6pm last night and no longer needs to be checked with every feeding and able to room with us
Sorry for such the long post but I enjoy reading everyone's updates and birth stories and I found it very therapeutic to share mine as well. To all my twin mamas out there who are still waiting I just wanted to say hang in there! Everyday they are cooking is one more day closer to full term! Everything is so worth it in the end once you see those beautiful faces!! I'm still sore from the C-Section but I can honestly say those pregnancy pains are gone and I just look forward to being able to take both (hopefully) babies on Tuesday and start this new chapter in my
Edit: I'm mobile, don't know if I can flip the pictures....
So far it's @MrsP419 @chrissy1013 @AJC&Maggie @quinncat and myself! From PAIF and Multiples board updates it looks like the other ladies have had their babies!!
No pressure rignt?
@Burgie84 @SandraPB1220 Congratulations ladies!!! Your babies are BEAUTIFUL
That is awesome that you aren't having contractions or anything! Mine just started at 34 weeks, and it took me awhile to figure out WTF was going on haha. I guess my uterus/round ligaments have been in pain for so long that when I've finally had contractions it's like 'eh no big deal!' I even thought they were BH until the nurse said no because 1) they were way too long and 2) they were causing dilation. Ah fun stuff. Avoid it as long as you can
Though i am assuming I'm not having contractions and that the stabbing pains i have low in my ute are just baby a kicking my bladder... i really cant tell lol
