Does anyone mix breastmilk with formula? My daycare lady suggested this since my ds doesn't eat well for her at all. I have been just mixing water and wonder if others have done this.
I am not srue if I understood you post.....are you mixing breastmilk with water? If so this is not a good idea. We often mix breastmilk and formula at the hospital, and I have a friend who does this as well. It often helps the baby take it better. Prepare the formula accordign to directions (if you are using powder or concentrate) and then make bottle of 1/2 formula 1/2 EBM see how your little one likes that. Soemtimes they do take it better & it helps "stretch" the EBM longer. A baby under 1 years should not get water as it has zero nutritional value in it. Hope that helps! Good Luck!

I am phasing out pumping and plan on doing 1/2 formula and 1/2 EBM until my freezer stash runs out for DS's daycare bottles once I am finally done pumping.
a girl asked the IBCLC in my BF group if she coul mix the ff powder wtih BM- she said absolutely NOT this is very dangerous as it can cause hypernutermia in a baby. Formula has a lot of sodium in it- you will be voerloading baby's system. Please do not do this without talkign to yoru ped about it. The hospital LC/ IBCLC said this was very dangerous as did the LLL leader.

I mixed 1/2 breastmilk and 1/2 formula (powered mixed with water) for DS when my supply starting running low, and will probably end up doing the same for DD eventually when.
II would also mix up the formula powder with water for the formula portion, and then add the breastmilk. Not sure if you are just adding water to your breastmilk, or ???
