Baby wants to stand

My little boy is 1 month and 5 weeks. He's been wanting to stand the last couple weeks, obviously he is stretching his legs and I am holding him but he is strong. Anyways is there any toys to help hold him up, besides me. :) His neck is strong enough that he doesn't need support siting there. I wonder if a bumbo seat would be good or if there is something else for standing.

Re: Baby wants to stand

  • He'll build up more muscle with your help as opposed to sticking him in a seat or something similar. DD1 was the same way and started walking on her own without assistance at 7months.

Mine is the same way! He wants to stand and loves when I help him! A seat definitely won't help him to stand at all... I would just keep helping him for a little bit each day to strengthen the muscles.
  • There are some swingy seat things that hang from a doorway in your house with elasticky cords for bouncing and working LO's leg muscles. Both of my nieces (now both 4) used these and really liked them! I'm not sure what their brand name is or what they're really called, lol.

  • They are jolly jumpers!! @SoulTermination‌
You can get them to just hang from a doorway or you can get a big stand for them. I think our April babies are too little for those though.
Penny LOVES standing and "climbing". She will jump/bounce on my still squishy belly lol. Or try to climb her way up my torso during burps.

I would maybe suggest an exersaucer. My neighbours little guy started in one of those at like 2 months. She just folded up some receiving blankets and stuffed them in around him in the seat and he jumped like crazy. You can get one that adjusts height and hopefully your LO will be able to reach the bottom.

    Following.
  • I wouldn't use any of those things that young. Pretty sure they need more trunk strength. They may even need to be able to sit unassisted.

Most of those types of toys say 4 months or until baby can sit up on their own.
