Why is that your reaction...?

I'm starting to get noticeably big. LO is growing fast and I feel like just when I get used to one size roundness she grows and my belly is much rounder. This makes people excited and I'm now getting questioned by strangers(which is fine) i get the "when are you due" and when I tell them I get the O.O your so small i thought you were only 3 months (come on no one is this round at 3 months but whatever I'll take it) still that doesn't bother me...

what confuses me (doesn't bother me per say...) is when I can tell LO is leaning to one side or has just gotten done kicking and moving up a storm and i tell someone. They immediately poke my stomach...why is that your reaction...to poke me? I would think hand on the stomach to feel her but I wouldn't think "hey...lemme poke you and see what happens"

Am I alone or does this happen to others?

  • I've had a few pokes too! Usually people comment how hard it is. I respond with a yea, it's not like I've just been eating doughnuts!

  • I have an issue with coworkers touching my belly but nobody has ever poked it. I don't like it when they touch me and I've had to become the pregnant bitch to get my point across that it's not acceptable.

I haven't had very many people touch my belly or poke it. But I do get the comment, "oh you are so small for almost 8 months." Yes, I realize that to you I may seem small, but believe me, I don't feel small....

  • I've only had a couple of people touch the belly, but no poking. Usually when I comment about her movement I have my own hand on my belly, so maybe that helps. I do have a Co worker (adorable 22 year old guy) who keeps wanting to feel the baby, I like him and all, but I find it strange.

DH poked me the other day and he about lost a finger.
A stranger would probably get hit.

    Poking hurts!

  • The only person I'm totally ok with poking my belly is DS. He's 19 months old and makes the "hoo hoo" sound when he does it and giggles. Then he does his own. It's adorable.

I'm also getting "you're so small for 30 weeks!" It's mostly from my neighbors who compare me to the other pregnant lady on the street who is 3 weeks a head of me and having twins. Well duh she's going to be bigger than me!

No one has touched my stomach without permission, but I've been asked a few times by other pregnant women when I'm due. I get uncomfortable answering now because many give me a dirty look when I tell them early august. Many of them are due in Sept. but are quite a bit bigger than I am. I'm tall with a long torso so I look small. It's not like I'm doing this to purposefully make these women feel bad -- I think they all look so beautiful with their nice round bumps!
This.  I am tall too, with big hips, and I get the dropped-jaw, no-way-you're-that-far-along disbelief every time someone asks when I'm due.  I secretly love that I look small for my due date because I haven't had strangers try to touch the Billy belly.  Family has rubbed the belly, and the co-teachers in my room at work, but that's it.

I think the reason why I get the drop jaw your THAT far along is because I carry outward and it's mainly all belly (i do get a little chubby around my chest and shoulders) when I turn to the side then people see that I'm larger than what they see from the front.

As for the poking it's my coworkers that poke me. I understand they want to see or feel her move but really...poking me? Lol FI also enjoys poking my stomach then he laughs and laughs...

  • I despise being touched. My coworkers have stopped asking to touch, and I've stopped being nice about it. I also hate when they say "Why isn't she moving? Is she ok?" Uh yeah...she's maybe...I don't know it's just a guess here...SLEEPING?

  • My personal rule is that if someone touches my tum without asking first, I touch theirs back. So far I've only had to do it once (coworker), but she was so shocked and horrified! It was hilarious.
