Hi all...quick intro, my LO was born 3/7, I'm active in March 14 moms...

I am going to the Dr first thing, but I am fairly certain I have a UTI. What can I take for that while BFing? I had one of those little brown pills that make your pee orange that's supposed to help with pain only and I went ahead and took it, I had to! Is it ok to keep BFing tonight?

    I have the lactmed iPhone app and just looked up phenazopyridine. It is not recommended for breastfeeding because it can cause different kinds of anemia (in adults) and should especially not be used in infants under 1 month or with G-6PD deficiency. Hasn't really been tested with breastfeeding though so that's just a recommendation. I bet you're okay because I believe that drug isn't absorbed systemically and acts specifically by passing unchanged into the urine. Good luck!

    Thanks for the lactmed info, didn't know about that resource. Yes, I was talking about phenazopyridine.
