Toddler Bedroom Door

Hello all. I know I have seen similar discussions on this before so I apologize on the possible repetitiveness.

We will be transitioning DS to a toddler bed in the next few months (or maybe longer) but seeing as though he is on the second floor and our master is on the first I was looking for an additional safety precaution to protect him. We have a baby gate between his room and the stairs but there's also another bedroom and bathroom on his level. My husband is a worrier and DS is a dare devil so we feel as though something in addition to the gate is needed.

I do not want to close the secondary doors or his as the upper level gets quiet warm and stuffy in the summer. I bought a "Door Monkey" but our doors are too wide and it doesn't fit. Any suggestions?!

    DS is still in his crib but we have one gate at his door, plus a second gate at the stairs. His room is on the 2nd floor of our condo. The gate at his door is for containing him in his room (eg, when I need to change him, so I won't end up chasing him all over the floor). The gate at the top of the stairs is for safety, so that he can wander on the entire floor but not fall down the stairs.
