Lip tie question

This has been bugging me since LO was a few days old. I had the ped look to see if he had a tongue tie, she said he didn't. I figured maybe I was just sore with the usual getting used to bf soreness. Well it lasted a bit longer then I remember with my other kids. 

Now LO is 10 weeks old, he will pull off almost all the time with a let down, get back on and pop off over and over. I first thought it was a forceful letdown but now I'm think it's not that. I've been sore again the past few days, he still fuses at almost every feed. And I've always felt like my supply is not right, but he is gaining weight well so I'm confused. He was 8 lbs 12 oz at birth, at 1 month he was 10 lbs 9 oz, and at 10 weeks he's 12 lbs 11.5 oz. 

Could a lip tie (think he has one) cause just a little bit of frustration with him but still let him gain well. If he does have one will it cause problems later or am I past the problem stage. 

Hard to believe after 6 kids I still have questions :)

    You could try having a LC do an assessment. That's what I had done after the soreness I was experiencing didn't go away (DS is 4 months now), and like yours, he was gaining weight just fine. My LC said that 70% of babies with lip ties also have a tongue tie. As pp said, a posterior tongue tie is harder to identify. I had both the tongue and lip ties revised, but haven't noticed a difference in feeding , but have heard others notice a difference right away.

    Thanks ladies I'm going to make an appointment with our pediatric dentist, since the Pedi didn't see a tongue tie.

    My lo had a tongue and lip tie and gained very well before getting it revised. The continued soreness was the tip for me. Even though she gained well, I had them revised due to risk of dental issues as mentioned by prev poster.

    My TT/LT baby had no issues with gaining. :)  Revision helped SO much!

    Well the ped dentist did not see anything wrong. So now I must figure out what he is doing. Maybe he is messing with my head:) Not hard to do lately. :P

     It did cross my mind, but he will do it before the let down. I don't spay milk, will drip if he lets go so I guess it could be that still.
