Parent/Tot Swim Class

How much are you paying? The local YMCA is charging non-members $112 for 6 sessions! F that noise! I looked into joining the Y, but it would be over $112 with the joining fee, monthly membership, and class fee. I think I'm going to pay $8 to go for the 1hr family swim and go once a week.

Re: Parent/Tot Swim Class

  • I wouldn't mind paying that. That is a lot more reasonable than $112.

  • We paid $90 for 8 classes. It's at a swim school so that must be the reason.

  • @wedding06 I thought the same thing too. I can't think of the abbreviation. LCOL? Basically, I live in the Midwest. I would expect to pay $30-60 for baby swim classes.

  • The one I'm going to sign up for is like $25 for 4 sessions through our local parks and rec dept. Shit is cheap in Kansas.

  • I will look into the park dept. they may have classes at the high school.

I live in IN. You would think it would be dirt cheap for a freaking swim class.

  • Ahh, good point @quartermisses‌. Did not think of that.

  • The Y here charges $180 for 6 weeks but I found a local fitness center that charged $110 for 6 sessions. That doesn't really seem too outrageous to me actually, but I am in the metro Boston area so everything is more pricey here than the Midwest.

  • 275 for 12 weeks of classes. It is at a swim school with body temp pool though and they teach some skills like grabbing the side and floating survival style. It was similar price to the ymce near me
  • My local YMCA (Chicago) is also $100 for 6 weeks for non-members. My DD takes swim lessons at a 'swim school,' and it's $87/month. No way am I paying that much for DS (yet) - It's a sing songs and float around type class. They have free open swim around noon everyday, so I've been taking DS there when DD is in school. I figure I can sing songs and float around with him just as well on my own. :)

  • I am paying $15 a class for once a week. I looked into the Y, but DH thought the fees were high even though I would have liked having somewhere to go for group workouts. I really like the little school where we go and there are only 3-4 babies per class.

  • I am in California and the place I am looking into is 52 for 4 30 minute classes.
  • 8 classes for 35$. 30 minutes each.

  • Our local YMCA charges $80 for non-members, and it's 4 30-minute classes. I'm looking for cheaper options, because that is just too much.
  • I did this with my first and it was pretty pointless. I'll splash in the water with him this summer and call it a day.
