Surgery tomorrow - UPDATE

I have a lipoma (fatty tumor) on my right shoulder. Its been there for years and never really bothered me. Well recently it has started getting bigger and is very noticable now. My OB is concerned b/c they usually don't grow and concerned it could be a liposcarcoma. Sounds scary, right?

So I had a consultation with the surgeon my OB recommended today. I was expecting him to say all was well and we would wait until after the pregnancy. WRONG. I am scheduled for 9:30 surgery in the am. Apparently the threat of the tumor is greater than the risk to the fetus.

I'm terrified now. I'm more worried about the baby than anything. I will have to go under general anesthesia. Thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated. I promise I will update tomorrow afternoon after I am discharged.

UPDATE -

I am finally home and awake. The surgery went well and the baby is doing great. There were a few hiccups along the way but all is well now.

It's moments like this that I am amazed at how wonderful my husband truly is!

The lipoma removal went well. The doctor said that the tumor didn't appear to be cancerous but we won't k ow for sure for a week or so. He was pretty confident and even told my husband that he would bet money.

The anesthesiologist and his staff were AMAZING! They even all prayed for me and the baby before the surgery began. I was a sobbing wreck and everyone was so understanding and comforting.

I can't thank you ladies enough for your kind words and support! I don't care what anyone says, N14 bumbies are the shiznit!

You are officially into the second trimester. So you have much better odds going into surgery. With DD I had surgery 3 times around 15-20 weeks. It's scary as hell. They will do a Doppler every 4 hours to make sure the baby is doing good

Praying for you. Hopefully when it is all said and done you'll be more comfortable, will have heard that heart beat a ton, and will get to relax a little.
