Positive antibody screening? Update

I sincerely apologize if someone else has already posted this but I didn't see it in the first few pages of threads.

Anyway, has anyone else had a positive antibody pregnancy?  I honestly don't even really know how to explain it besides I'm Rh- and my nurse called this morning saying my bloodwork showed D antigens.  I made the mistake of Googling this and now I'm completely freaking out.

I have 2 healthy children and have received 5 Rhogam shots in the past.  Guess I just assumed that those shots prevented all of this???  Apparently if they find the antigens in my blood when I go in on Thursday, I won't even be able to get the shots this time.  This was already going to be my last pregnancy but now I'm completely panicking.

Update:  I had my NT scan and appointment yesterday afternoon.  Nobody is really sure why I tested positive again, although the doctor said it was so weak that he couldn't even give me a titer number.  So, I have to have my titer checked every month and if the number doesn't change, they'll do nothing.  Usually the Rhogam shot lasts for about 14 weeks and the last one I had was 16 MONTHS ago.  So bizarre.  No news is good news, I suppose?

  • I'm not really sure what the implications are, but this sounds really scary!! I'm sorry you're going through this and you'll be in my thoughts.

When did you get the shots before? I am also Rh- and my OB said I wouldn't need the shot this early?

    Edit: typos
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I had it at 28w and delivery with DS; 8w (bleeding), 28w and delivery with DD.  The nurse asked me earlier when was the last time I'd had it but it's been almost 16 months ago so they don't think the antibodies are from the shot.  She asked if I'd had a miscarriage (no) or abortion (no).  So I'm at a loss why they'd be showing up on my bloodwork.  They didn't want me to rush in and get blood drawn again so I'm hoping that means my number is really low?
  • FX everything is OK.
  • That is super scary!  I would call your OB about it.  FX everything is fine.

Wow I have never heard of this but I am no expert on pregnancies. I would definitely push my doctor for more info. Good luck and FX that you get some helpful answers soon!
