Anyone else have a really good solids eater?

I know E isn't even 6 months yet, but he is just a pro at solids. LO is crazy gung-ho for food. He will try and grab stuff off your plate and shove it in his mouth, so I'm pretty open to letting him eat whatever I think he can tolerate. We also have 0 history of food allergies so I'm not too concerned. Hummus was his first food and it's his absolute favorite. He's tried sweet potatoes and carrots (I just took a chunk of my steamed veggie and mixed it with a little formula), avocado, cottage cheese, yogurt, pizza sauce, mushed apples, banana rice mum-mum cookie things, and really smashed up over-easy eggs. I let him suck on watermelon rind a lot too.

Anyone not really making food specifically for baby and just kinda letting him eat what you are? Our pedi is fine with it although she just wants us to be cautious about any reactions but is okay about us mixing foods. Sometimes I feel like E would take on a steak if we let him. Is this is like BLW?

Here he is gnawing on watermelon rind..

  • Lol not here. He's has been making horrible faces at the sweet potato, spends most of the time playing with his bib, and then screams.

Mine loves all baby food we have tried so far except bananas, they were the first thing we tried after rice cereal. I bought them again hoping she will like them.
Side note, she loves ice cream.

We can't use a bib. lol. E tries to tear it off and gets frustrated by it. Luckily, he's not too messy. He tries to make sure he gets as much food in his mouth as possible!

He started showing interest in food about 3 weeks before we actually gave him anything. He would open his mouth when we ate and started to make eating noises at us. I finally gave in and let him eat hummus and now he gets upset if someone is eating and he's not. Our pedi said that some babies just express interest sooner than others!

  • I make all LOs food though it is different than what we eat right now. I didn't want to, start her on solids until we were home with her all summer but she just needed more, had all the signs. Food I've made her includes oatmeal, avocado, cinnamon sweet potatoes, prunes, butternut squash, and just made a batch of carrots. She hoses it all. Like, ALL of it. Doesn't even get on her. Same thing at daycare. She's also tried a lime popsicle, hummus, and frozen yogurt. We also have no food allergies so I'll give her whatever is "real" food in a format she can handle. Some next foods will be peas, chicken, cottage cheese, yogurt, and eggs. Once she is a little older we plan to try and let her eat how she wants, as now we're spoon feedinh.

You guys are getting me excited to try. I think we may start this weekend!
  • Baby Boots went to town on a piece of grilled chicken tonight. Ate it all and then tried to scoop up the chunks that fell onto his tray and stuff those in his mouth too. We've got a carnivore on our hands.

  • He loves his food! Slurps any dropped bits off his bib and tray, nothing goes to waste. :) I'm just cooking things up and blending them then freezing.

My LO looks like a baby bird any time a spoon is around his mouth. He will literally attack the spoon to get the food. Crazy boy looooves pears and avocados. I mean loves. He whines for more when he's done. I pureed and froze into ice cube trays some sweet potato and butternut squash as well, so those are next.
