Fitness Friday!

I feel like I only post on Fridays.  Maybe I'll make it a point to try to post something non fitness related each week too!  Ha!!

My week was pretty okay, back in the gym but easing back into things.  I have a new race I'm training for now - so that should keep me motivated!

Monday: Swim 200 yards, Run 15 minutes
Tuesday: Bike 6 miles
Wednesday: Swim 400 yards
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Bike 8 miles
Saturday: Run 3 miles
Sunday: Rest

Food: pretty good actually!  I'm finally feeling up to cooking again, so much less crap.  Until last night when we ordered pizza.  And then I had some for breakfast.  :)

QOTW: Would you rather watch sports, or play sports?  Me... watch.  I am a huge green bay packers fan, so there's that.  I also worked for a MLB team and a NHL team... I am a big sports fan!  Even though I would consider myself athletic (now)... growing up sports were NOT my thing.  I get too nervous I am going to mess up and let everyone down when I am on a team... and I am soooo uncoordinated and awkward... it's not pretty!  I'll stick to watching sports and running when sports aren't on TV.

Re: Fitness Friday!

  • I've just been walking with a coworker at lunch.  Nothing major but it feels good to move around and be outside!

  • I so need to get active again. This weekend I will go out and power walk. This weight has me a little out a breath at times so jogging is out of the question. Any tips?
  • DH has joined the gym with me, we went on Tuesday and Thursday this week.  I did PiYo Strength on Tuesday and Zumba on Thursday.

QOTW - I'm not much for participating in team sports.  I like playing volleyball when I get the chance, I played in HS.  I love to watch NFL Football, and I liked hockey when I had cable but it's too many games to follow without it.  For football DH and I go out to our favorite sports bar, or sometimes to my in-laws.

  • I've ridden my exercise bike every day this week (70 minutes, 18-19 miles), and I plan to do it tonight and tomorrow as well. I'm a little concerned about getting in my exercise next week, because the kids and I are going to visit my parents, and my opportunities might be few and far between. The good news is my sister said I can come over on the weekend and use her exercise bike, so Sunday and Monday will hopefully happen.

Food: Nothing has really changed for me, although I haven't thrown up in about 4 days, so I'm hoping that the food aversions and lack of appetite are on their way out as well. I have some things I always make it a point to eat while I'm visiting my hometown and it would suck to miss out.

QOTW: When I was younger, I would have preferred playing sports, but at this point in my life, I prefer to watch; my husband and I are both really into sports, and we've frequently got some type of sporting event on the tv in the evenings.
  • @Nfranco973 - were you a runner before you got pregnant?  if not, i wouldn't start.  how active were you before you got pregnant?  i'd just try to go back to that routine.  don't push yourself too much, but definitely get moving if you feel up to it!  :)

  • I am ready to get back to it! I was lifting weights prior to pregnancy (I armwrestle professionally and love to lift heavy) and miss it like crazy.
  • I just do what you said @missnacholover  A coworker of mine go out and walk every day.   With a desk job,  it feels so good to get up and walk!   :)

Here is my mileage for the week

    Monday: 2.20

    Tuesday: 2.26
    Wednesday: 1.89
    Thursday: 2.19
    Friday: 2.43

Food: I am still trying to eat healthier lunches and snacks,  then its a free for all when I get home.  the healthy snacks are hard though.....cause they are not really filling.  I get hungry so soon again after eating fruits and veggies,  that the doritos are always calling my name from the vending machine.

QOTW: Would you rather watch sports, or play sports?    I love watching hockey,  we are big Pittsburgh Penguin fans in our house,  but aside from that,  I don't watch sports.     I like to play volleyball at family get togethers.    We don't really have rules though....ha ha

  • I have never posted in this post before - but fun to sort of use it as an accountability tool :)

I do crossfit 3x a week with an amazing trainer who is also a nurse and has trained lots of pregnant ladies, so i feel really well supported and LOVE getting all the exercise!

My doctor was all about it, which surprised me at first but she says as long as I keep an eye on my heart rate and listen to my body I can do just about anything I want!

I'm going to start adding in swimming once my pool opens this week in my neighborhood!
  • This week has felt awesome! Loving second trimester so far!

    Monday: insanity max cardio
    Tuesday: 3 mile walk
    Wednesday: insanity Cardio recovery
    Thursday: ran 3 miles
Friday: ran 3 miles, walked 2

Today's run has been the best since getting off of pelvic rest 4 weeks ago, and was so encouraging!

Food has been the best since I got pregnant, except for frosted animal crackers. I need I kick that habit. Other than that, lots of salads and good food going in!

I would much rather play sports! Watching is hard, especially when it's something I have played before.

Yep! My husband got me into it when we met. It's actually one of the coolest sports I've participated in. The matches can last less than a second or go 15 minutes or more. You'll have to youtube women's professional armwrestling. Most will be of women in other countries because it hasn't caught on quite as much as men's in the US, but I'm hoping to change that! And most of the women from the other countries are built! It's insane. I kinda sorta want to be like them when I grow up :-)

  • This week has been pretty good for exercise, not great but good. Tuesday bootcamp, Wednesday bootcamp, Thursday long walk, Saturday I'll do yoga. I've started walking the dog more often… so that gets me out everyday for at least a mile or two.

Food has been better, salad for dinner last night….although I did have In-n-out today. Had a talk with DH last weekend about not being an enabler. He thinks he's helping by keeping the fridge stocked with ice-cream and other unhealthy but awesome treats. His intention is very sweet, but I'm TRYING to be healthy even though I'm HUNGRY all the time!

I've never loved playing sports; I'm much more of a spectator. I as always pretty un-athletic and uncoordinated in school… On TV I like to watch basketball and soccer during the world cup… baseball if we go to the park, but not on TV.

  • Ladies, I'm getting my energy back and its fantastic!

Everyday this week I walked with a coworker for our afternoon break. It's about a mile and it takes us just over 15 minutes. And we're lucky that when it rains we can go into the back warehouse and do laps there! I'm going to keep this up as often as we can through the pregnancy.

Mon - 40 minutes (about 3 1/2 miles) on the treadmill
Tues - 40 minutes on an elliptical
Wed - 40 minutes on treadmill
    Thurs - Rest day/Meeting
Fri - Weights and 30 minutes on elliptical

Sat/Sun - I'm hoping to get a run in at least one of the days. Tomorrow's my 1 year anniversary, so we'll see how motivated I am.

I've been trying to be good about my food choices. Managed to get back on salads for lunch, and have been bringing healthy snacks (cheese, celery & PB) etc, with me to eat at my desk.

Depends on the sports - swimming/tennis or frisbee, I'm all for getting out there.
