Induced Lactation Check-in May 22

How's everything going? Any new developments, challenges, etc?

QOTW: Do we think this check-in is working for us? There aren't as many people involved as I originally anticipated might be and I'm wondering if it's still helpful to do a biweekly check-in. Would we be better served supporting each other in some other way? Facebook group? etc? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

@Jalara48-- is on birth control as part of induced lactation protocol; pregnant with a gestational carrier

Hey hey all!!! I saw some rumblings that this group might go away (if that is what the group feels) and I literally said out loud "nooooooooo"!!! I would really like for this group to stick around but I understand if it's not getting as much traffic. I am also not opposed to a Facebook group as well!

As for my update: I just started my protocol on Monday (just the BCP)...still waiting on my domperidone. We had a MW appointment today (with a different midwife than last time) and the midwife said to me "oh so you're planning on inducing lactation. What are you gonna do when it doesn't work?". I felt really sad and unsupported by her comment...I mean I understand her POV, it might not work but it wasn't a very supportive way to say it.

Can't wait to see everyone's updates and see what will come of our check in!

I started my meds today! Ortho 35 and domperidone. I'm hoping not to have bad nausea on the birth control but we will see. I take the domperidone 3 times a day and I'm worried I will regularly forget it.

I also announced on Facebook that I was starting induced lactation. I wanted people to know it was a thing (cause lots don't) and I want to start to prepare my community for the idea of my breastfeeding. So far the feedback has been very positive.

QOTW: well as me making this the question of the day might suggest, I've been wondering if this check-in is worthwhile. I'm happy for us to continue it if folks feel like they're getting stuff from it. And maybe new folks will join.

I saw this! I think that was very brave! I think IL is a strange concept for some and the only way to spread the word is to talk about it!

WTF????!!!! That's so not ok. Boo on her!!

I would actually complain about that, if I were you. It's highly unprofessional and completely unacceptable. If I said that to someone, I would lose my job.

Thanks for the support guys. I thought it was really rude but I am trying to just shake it off. There are 4 midwives in this practice so hopefully we won't cross paths with her too often.
