Is it too early to talk about Father's Day gifts?

I need some new ideas! DH hasn't dropped any hints about what he might want like he had in years past. We will go out for brunch or I'll make a nice breakfast - whichever he decides he wants. I'll have the kids draw pictures/make cute cards for him. But I need a gift idea. Last year he got an iPad Mini, the year before than this crazy expenisve tent he wanted... I can't remember what before that.

DH is getting a new grill. Our current one was a gift from his groomsmen almost 8 years ago. It has survived 4 moves. It is time to replace it.

We have a new spice. Boutique that opened up close to us. My dad, DH, and FIL are all getting bbq spice sets, maybe some bbq tools. Then DD is treating DH to a baseball game just the two of them!

We're on a budget so I had to find something that he wanted, but wasn't crazy expensive. I have a 6in memory foam pillow that he LOVES and always steals from me. I always feel bad taking it away from him because his pillows are shitty, even though he swears otherwise. I don't see how he sleeps on them. Anyways, I bought him the same pillow as me

I'll probably grab breakfast for him in bed that day and then make a card with DD for him for that day too.

He got me Eddie Izard tickets for Mother's Day. He is our favorite comedian. I am surprising him by making it a whole over night away. Favorite restaurant, nice hotel etc.

He's been hinting and begging for a headlamp for when working on his car. So I added it to the last amazon shipment.

I'm taking DH and the boys to the Mariners game. They are having a little league parade for the kids beforehand and giving away Mariners Grill Tools at the gate. I'll probably also get him a nice card and make him breakfast. In years past I have gotten him golf clubs or fishing gear.

I made DH a small scrapbook he can take with him if he deploys. It has cute photos of the kids and I that I have taken the last couple months, their hand prints, art work, kids interview, etc. DH also said he didn't want or need anything. In the kids' interview in the scrapbook the kids answered that they would get daddy water toys so they could play outside with with him this summer if they could get him anything they wanted for Father's Day. I may let them pick out something like that.

also it's the weekend of a friends wedding- so Z will be with my parents on Friday and Saturday so we will have a date night and nice getaway in a beach front hotel

He said the dump trailer we just bought is his Fathers Day "gift" since it was pricey. But I'm going to get him a few things to have on FD. A personalized pocket knife, wallet, something for his truck, a wild meat package from Cabelas, and his favorite candy. (And of course some bedroom action)

What type of fishing gear?

He is really into bass fishing and salmon fishing so he usually has something picked out that he wants. He loves G. Loomis rods, which are pretty spendy, but his birthday is right before Fathers Day so sometimes I combine them. Otherwise I will just get him a big bag of various tackle or a gift card to Cabelas and then we go as a family and look at the fish and let daddy pick out fun fishing stuff. I've also bought him a float tube/pontoon boat and one of those fishing vests that has the CO2 cartridge that makes a life vest inflate if they hit the water. That was a selfish gift because I hate when he goes float tubing alone! There is no end to the number of fishing gadgets you can buy

him! Got to see him in DC several years ago. I've got all (or at least most) of his DVDs.

Dh wants to get a dog tag with ds' footprints and info... The man version of what I have. So I will get that, do breakfast and whatever he wants that day. Ds' due date is the day before and dh has expressed that he doesn't want to do anything to celebrate that weekend.

DH bought a pedal for his electric guitar for V-Day and told me it would be his gift for that, Father's Day, Anniversary, birthday, and Christmas. But I think may still buy him something small.
