Can any one tell me how you make them... When you make them? The prospect seems sooooo comforting and I'd like to make them but the tutorials I've read say all different things. I know my ladies can help me out!
I made ten with DH last weekend. Took am extra-long Always Infinity pad with wings, unfolded the wings, spread aloe vera gel on it, then sprinkled about a teaspoon of witch hazel along the center. Folded the wings back over, and wrapped them individually in foil. Then, into the freezer. I'd read about using lavender oil, but didn't feel it was necessary for me. I'll have DH make more if I find them useful pp.
Yes .... They all say different ingredients. Just wondering what has worked best or what you ladies were using. Some say lavender some say just the witch hazel
At my hospital the nurses just took one of the newborn sized diapers & tore the side a bit to stuff it with ice. They didn't add anything else and those things were really helpful. (A little awkward perhaps but at that point I didn't care.) I might look into making some of the more specific versions but if I don't have time I'll at least do that again.
I referenced two blogs (Mama Jane & In the Know Mom) on the actual assembly process, but I didn't wrap them in tin foil like they say because that seemed wasteful to me. I just left the pads stuck to their own wrapper and folded them back up in there to freeze. I stuck all 20 in a gallon freezer bag.
Might be a good idea! But also make sure the witch hazel and aloe don't have any alcohol in them - that will burn for sure! A lot of the "after sun" aloe, particularly the blue kind, have alcohol and painkillers in them and I've seen people caution against them on the other boards.
I just want to say how amazing they are! I was going to make some from home but then I remembered that I really didn't need them by the time I got home last time. The few hours and day after delivery, though, they are AMAZING!!! I'll definitely be asking for them at the hospital!
