Anyone else wear contacts?

Ever since my BFP I'm having the hardest time with my contacts. They don't fit right, almost like they're too big. Which is odd; but I read that its normal. Its hard to tell if my vision has changed when wearing them because they're always swimming. Its so weird. I wear the ones that you wear for a month then throw away for a new pair. I've tried new ones, same thing happens. DH is checking into our insurance today to see if I can get a pair of glasses for free or cheap to wear the rest of the PG. How annoying!!

  • That is really weird!  I've never heard of that before.  My vision changed drastically from before I was pregnant the first time until after...my contact prescription went from a -1.75 to -3.5!  So it got twice as bad!  but my contacts still fit.  Weird how pregnancy can even change our eyes!

  • Yes!!!! I have issues with my contacts a lot, I'm going through them like they are over night disposables (they are supposed to last 2 weeks). I had this the last time I was pregnant that ended in loss but not with my other 2 pregnancies, I'm thinking maybe it has to do with age too. I'm 33.
  • I don't have problems with them fitting but my eyes seem to get extra dry in pregnancy. That in and of its self is weird since we have so much extra fluid during pregnancy.

I agree with @wallygirl‌ my contacts seem more dry these days! Very annoying!!
  • Hmm...I haven't noticed a change in mine at all. Maybe make a visit to the eye doctor and see if they can try a different brand of contacts?
  • I wear contacts, but haven't personally noticed an issue.  However, I had my annual eye check up recently and they did mention that changes in vision and fit could happen with pregnancy.

  • Vision can definitely change in pregnancy. My eyes are horrible and I basically never wear my glasses, so its always contacts. My eye doctor only gave me a six month prescription at the start of my pregnancy because your eyes can change so much. My mom actually was never able to go back to contacts after her first pregnancy.

I'd give your eye doctor a call and see what they say!

  • @mrsmechanic1‌ you can post sites if it's not something you are selling. People post like the free baby legging websites and stuff all the time. I don't think this is any different.

  • I've had to stop wearing contacts all together. I've always had astigmatism in my left eye which made my contacts uncomfortable at times. But it's gotten so much worse lately. I end up just ripping the left contact and losing it in my eye. Awful feeling.

  • I had this se exact problem for the first 3 months of my pregnancy. I ended up wearing my glasses for a few weeks because it killed me to keep throwing contacts away. When went on vacation and I tried them again and I haven't had a problem since. I did google this and found that it's common for women's eyes to change shape during pregnancy! Call your eye dr. An see what they say.
  • Thank you all. I called my eye dr and turns out even though my last exam was in Nov, according to my insurance it all starts over in Jan instead of Nov so I'm going for another exam and new lenses. Depending on price I'll either get glasses or new contacts. Crazy...never thought this would happen but its horrible! I've worn contacts 20 years now and have NEVER had an issue with them.

Still consider one of those online places to buy glasses (and contacts!)  In store, I never paid less than $250 for glasses.  Since discovering the online store? I have never paid more than $39 for a pair of glasses.  (And yes, my first pair were free.)   You upload a pic of yourself and can "try on" 100s of pairs.  And the store I buy from, if you look awful in them, you can send them back for a full refund.  (they even pay for shipping.)  I swear I will never pay more than $50 for glasses now!  :)

  • Thank you @morrocojade I will definitely be looking into it! So I would just tell my Dr I'm going to look into other options rather than purchase them from her? If it would be cheaper for me to get them online rather than use my insurance then I'll want to go that route for sure. We're about to have a baby! LOL
