Thoughts on outfit (pic attached)

I loved this and ordered it for my sons baby dedication at our church which will be this Sunday. We are Christian and it will be a more informal event but I am a more formal person so wanted him to have a special outfit. Our son is 3 weeks old, and my MIL mentioned that it's girly and now that's all I can see. I slightly agree but, I don't want to order something else. Plus, not even sure what else I would want, this seemed so perfect. Thoughts?

  • I don't think it's too girly at all. It looks pretty traditional to me

  • I love it! GTFO to your mil.
  • I like it! Sorry mil, you had your chance to dress a kid.

  • That isn't girly IMO. It's very obviously for a boy. Your mil is delusional.

  • Agree with PP. I don't find it too girly at all. DH wore a gown to his baptism as have most boys I've seen get baptized.

  • Yep, my sons have all worn the "dress" as my brothers and sisters and I did.

Did you see what Princess Kate's son wore? This is obviously for a boy. Enjoy your special day.

I agree with the others. DS will be wearing a gown that's been passed down for a few generations. If you like it that is all that matters.

And even if it were girly, what's the harm in that?

Mine is wearing a dress that has been passed down for all boys and girls in family. Shall we reference prince George's christening outfit? Could've been a wedding gown! ;) I think it's adorable!

  • It's perfect and obviously for a boy. She's wrong on this one. I would have picked the same thing.

  • DS1 wore a white bubble like that. It was super cute! Go with it!

Oh man, I get the same thing from my MIL! I dressed DS1 in a baptism gown that's been in my family for generations, and I heard lots of snark about putting my boy in a dress. Brush off those comments - for generations, baby boys have been baptized in "girly" outfits. I can't wait to get DS2 dressed up in the family gown for his baptism!

  • It is one of the more boyish christening outfits I've seen. Ds wore a bsby blue and white feltman brothers outfit that was in a similar vein. They are on the prissier side of regular boy outfits but on the boyish side of christening ! Not girly.

  • I like it! And I would call that a boy outfit.

  • I think it's cute! Go with what you really feel. When we have our dedication service I will have him wear something dressy like a suit or a button down with dressy pants. But I just love babies dressed like older people!
  • I think it is adorable and obviously for a boy! My favorite picture of my grandfather is of him in his long white christening dress! All 29 grandchildren wore it for our christenings until it was retired after I wore it (I am the baby). I think you made a great choice!
