April 2014 Moms

For those with tough babies

What is the longest you have had to try and console your LO before they fall asleep?

We are going on 4 1/2 hours right now and he is WIDE awake. I can feel his tummy gurgling but we have tried burping, nursing, white noise, music, laying down on an incline, rocking, swaying, the works!

I am dying.

Re: For those with tough babies

  • I have a tough little one as well. We just recently tried giving him a dose of gripe water whenever he's so fussy and we've tried everything else first. It seems to work so far! We've used moms bliss brand and colic calm. So far both are great.

  • I just gave him some gas drops-
Maybe I'll have to buy some gripe water- when we used it with DD it didn't work, but every baby is different.

  • My DD was really tough and wearing her to sleep in the Ergo was sometimes the only thing that would work... with white noise and my special jiggle walk. But, if you haven't tried it, you may find using a carrier helpful? Best of luck! :)

  • I had this last night/all am. Mine calms down in his stroller which is nice during the day. You can always take him for a drive?? We started using gripe water last night---didn't give him enough. Used it tonight and seemed to work. Good luck and hope he settles down soon. It's so frustrating.

  • We are going on almoSt 6 hours now. He barely slept at all during the day except for about 2 hours when I went to the store he slept in the stroller and whole driving but as soon as we were home he was awake. He's got up for the day At 645am I am so done!!!!!!!!! B

Have you tried the Windi? It's for gassy babies and works like a charm on my lo.

  • Car ride, walk, I've pushed the stroller in the house (crazy but worked), vacuum put her to sleep ( also crazy but also worked), bottle rather than boob, and took a bath with her.
  • Mine has his moments and the exhaust fan in the kitchen always works. Sometimes he needs a pacifier and other times he doesn't. I've spent many evenings standing/ sitting by the stove with the fan blaring at the highest level.
  • ^^ oh and I also give him gripe water before the fan trick...I think that for my LO the combo works 99% of the time
  • Oh, I'm so sorry! My LO had one day of screaming from 6am to mid-afternoon. She'd stop to nurse & start back up again. Bouncing on an exercise ball w/ her swaddled tightly--or rocking/swaying in a dark bathroom with water, fan, and hair dryer running did the trick that day. Good luck!

  • When my LO does this I turn on te hairdryer and it seems to put him I sleep most times. GL!!
  • I run the shower and fan in the dark bathroom for my LO when she is like this.

  • We had this for nearly 24 hours!! It's now limited to day times she just cries and eats!!
I'm an emotional wreak when DH helps it turns into an argument
  • Omg 24 hours??? That would probably kill me.

Vin just had gas last night so until it was all let out he wasn't calming down no matter what we did (short of a car ride but I wasn't going to put him in the car in the middle of the night just to have him wake up when I took him out)

DH took over bc I was a wreck and said he let out a big loud fart and that's when he finally went to sleep and stayed asleep for a few hours. I so scared for it to happen again ugh.

  • Only thing that is working for us lately is a womb sounds song I got on itunes called "baby got colic." Other white noise is not as helpful. The track is $9.99 but has been worth the money. Stops the crying in its tracks.
