Car accident

So this evening I got rear ended going home and I had DS in the car, so I had a meltdown and the ambulance came and said he's fine.The car behind me air bags deployed the whole shebang looks totaled. Well my car didn't budge the bumper didn't go in what so ever but my dash popped out and my wheel well is now in my trunk. So two questions first I know I have to replace his car seat but how does insurance go about that do I just get money or do I buy one and they reimburse? Second I bought a jogging stroller this past weekend and it was in my trunk and now the wheel doesn't turn like it's supposed to, will insurance cover that? ... Sorry I'm mobile so I can't do paragraphs

Glad you are okay. I think you buy new car seat and get reimbursed. Not sure about the stroller.

your insurance shouldn't do anything, it should be coming from the person's insurance who rear-ended you (they are at fault, obv)-- but your insurance will handle all this so call them and ask what to do. that being said, you obv. need a new carseat ASAP, so i am sure ultimately they will do a reinbursement.

@CousinVicki‌ yeah that's what I meant, we have the same insurance company so that makes it easier. We have a convertible that we bought just haven't installed yet so we were going to install that in dh car until we figure out what's going on

I work in insurance and yes their insurance should cover it for you. All insurance companies are slightly different in how they handle it but typically just take a pic of you car and pop the trunk and show the stroller inside it. Also take a pic of your car seat along with the model information. When you buy a new one save the receipts.

Some insurance companies are more stricit and will only replace it depending on the manufactor guidelines but others don't want to risk it and will pay anyone that is concerned about the safety (my company pays for everything!)

You have to check with the insurance. Some reimburse you and some will give you money up front for you to replace it. As far as the stroller you may be able to get them to cover it just depends on the company.

Glad everyone is ok and good thing you had the ambulance come!

Buy the replacement seat. Insurance will reimburse you! We had to deal with that almost 2 years ago. We bought DD a new seat immediately and our insurance sent us a check immediately (the other driver was at fault but our insurance wanted to ensure we were taken care of and not left hanging!) Our insurance dealt with getting their reimbursement.
