Tiny spot of blood.should I...UPDATED

Call my dr? I went to the bathroom and there was a spot of pink about the size of a pencil eraser on my pantiliner. I'm freaking out now of course. What do I do?

*saw my dr today, they did a urine test and it was negative. I had taken one this morning before going in and it was positive, but I think slightly lighter than yesterday. They took blood and the result was 18. She said it's likely a chemical. I go back Tuesday for more blood testing. I'm sad and scared.

  • I think one small spot of pink on a pantyliner really isn't something to worry about.  Are you having any cramping? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.  If you start cramping, or the spotting turns red and there's more than just one spot of it, then I would call your doc, but until then, I wouldn't be too worried.

  • You could call your doctor, but if he/she is anything like mine....they will tell you it's totally normal and not to worry.  I had brown/pink "spots" for over a week.  Mine started on a Sunday morning and I was so freaked out we went to the ER (yes, I know...overly dramatic).  The ER doctor changed my appt with my OB for the following day.  My OB then called me the next morning and told me to just keep my normal appointment and this kind of bleeding is very common.  We had our first appointment on Monday and heard our baby's heartbeat!

Now, I am not a doctor of course, so don't listen to me...just what I experienced from May 11-May18th.  My doc said that if it changed to bright red blood, combined with cramping, to call back.  I'd give your doctor a call (I would need my nerves put to rest by a professional)...but know that some spotting doesn't necessarily mean the worst!

  • Thanks ladies. I'm having the same cramp/stabby pains I've been having for almost a week now. Nothing more severe. I am hoping maybe it's just a little irritation of the cervix or something, who knows. I guess I'll keep an eye on it for a few more hours and hope I don't get any more.

I don't think you should freak out but yes you should call. Blood always warrants at least a call. There are a million and one reasons for bleeding/spotting/cramps. Could be nothing, could be something.

If it will make you feel better, I would call. The NP I talked with today was like, "you have a bad dream and it makes you feel nervous, you give us a call" - I liked her approach! But like the others said, I'm sure everything is okay, especially since you haven't had any new cramping, etc.

  • I wouldn't, but you certainly can if you think that will give you some peace of mind.

  • Sassymommac-I'm wearing pantiliners because of the crazy amount of cm I've had in the past week! Haha!

Dbrym1- I am having cramping in my back and on my right side, but I've been having it all along.

I called my dr. And they want me to come in tomorrow to get checked to be sure it's not ectopic. I'm really nervous but hopeful it's a corpus luteum cyst or maybe just round ligament pain or just early pg cramping. T and p please!!
