November 2013 Moms

LO has to have surgery.

So, without getting into too much detail - the urologist said that Luke will end up having to have surgery on the skin around his boy parts.  :( Apparently it did not connect like it was supposed to and they have to go in to attach it.  I suspected we would get this news, but it's hard all the same.  He'll have to be put under and the recovery will take about a week the urologist said.  It's an outpatient procedure, which is good news.

Has anyone else had their LO have to be put under?  How did they do?

  • No advice yet (DS will be having surgery in July) but my nephew was put under about this age and did just fine. It's just super tough on parents seeing their kids in any pain. ((Hugs))

  • Aww, I can totally understand why this is weighing on your mind. How scary. I hope everything goes well for your baby boy.

  • Lots of prayers to you all. It sounds like he's in great hands and I'm looking forward to hearing about a fast recovery.
  • I'm sure this is tough! Good luck. You will be in my T&P's!

  • The baby I watched last summer had to be put under at about 6 months for a circumcision. (For some reason it couldn't be done at birth, there was a web of skin that need to grow out as I understand it). He did great. Way better than me and mom! He had the surgery in the am and by the afternoon he was pretty much himself. He barely needed the pain medication, in fact we only gave it to him for a day or so.

They bandaged up his "little man" as the urologist called it and that looked terrible. We were horrified, but he crawled and peed and pooped and sat up just fine. He wasn't allowed to be submersed in water for a week or so I think and he couldn't go in the jumper or a swing for 2 or 3 weeks.

I'm sure it's scary but with good medical care and a loving mommy it will go just fine.
