5 oz is a lot. Have you been "pace feeding?" There are videos on you tube of paced feeding and that can help if your baby is really over eating. They may also just be on the high end of normal.
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
Elise is 6 weeks and takes between 3-4.5 oz. I only offer bottles at night, so her first bottle is usually the largest (4.5 oz) and then the next MOTN feedings are closer to 3 oz. I think she gets sleepy and the first bottle still keeps her full for part of the night.
The boys are 6 weeks and don't take more than 4.5 oz at a time. We do 4oz so they don't spit up. Some times an hour later (or less) they will take another bottle and drink up to another two oz!
I would think maybe your baby's weight matters more than age? My LO only takes 2.5oz tops at 5.5 weeks, but she's only about 8 1/2 lbs. How big is your LO?
For breast milk volume shouldn't change much over time. It increases rapidly for the first month or so, then levels off until six months, then slowly decreases as they start solids. It's not like formula where they need more and more over time.
