3rd Trimester

32 Weeks - Bicornuate Uterus - Breech Baby

Had my 32 week appt. on Tuesday and according to my docs, our baby isn't going to turn and doesn't have the room to :( I have a full septation and they predicted it to flex/bend as the pregnancy progressed but that didn't happen so now I have to have a c-section, which im super nervous about since I'm at FTM and never had any surgery before. The Docs are shooting for me to make it atleast 39 weeks but I just don't see that happening. The baby is confined to my left side of my uterus and even though shes measuring 4lbs, I'm not getting any bigger.. Any advice?

Re: 32 Weeks - Bicornuate Uterus - Breech Baby

  • I have a bicornuate uterus too and baby is on the left side! However, the baby has been head down since 20 weeks.. and I have an ultrasound next week(which I'll be 37 weeks) to check to make sure he/she hasn't flipped, but I doubt it because I dont think there is much room left in there.. I keep thinking im going to go any day because the baby is out of room!

If you have to have the c-section though, you will be just fine! Just remember it's what's best for the baby and you.

Cheers to healthy babies, momma's and weird uterus's! haha

  • I too have a BU. With my firstborn, she was definitely stuck in the breech position from about 20 weeks to delivery. I NEVER felt kicks any other place and we never saw her in any other position on ultrasound. I made it to term with her and had my c-section at 39 weeks. My little one was 8 pounds too! My DD and this pregnancy are both in the right horn. So far my son has had ample room to spin around to his heart's delight. I am hoping we don't have to do a repeat c/s but my doc isn't too optimistic and already booked the OR.

It worked out fine for us. It was my first surgery too. Don't let your fears get to you. My recovery went pretty well, I had lots of meals prepared in the freezer prior to her birth. I was up and walking the hospital the night of her birth. Getting out of bed and moving is probably one of the biggest keys to faster recovery. Take the pain pills if you need them. You won't know any different, so your recovery will seem normal to you.

  • I have a BU, which I found out about when I was pregnant with my first baby in 2010.  He was on the left side and did turn to head down.  My water broke 10 days before my due date.  I labored for about 12 hrs but he couldn't "make the turn" and I ended up having a C-section.  I am now pregnant with 2nd (7 weeks) and have been spotting dark brown for about a week and a half.  Doc thinks that the other side "didn't get the memo" that the right side is trying grow a baby.
  • My best friend carried to 38 weeks. He was confined to one side breech also. He was born perfect but a little small at 5pounds 6oz. By unscheduled C-section, she went in in
For labor and they immediately took her to the OR. She predicted it was coming and had no issues.
