Noah had another seizure-type episode. He did not pass the neurological exam: his reflexes are weaker on one side of his body than the other. The doctor is doing a phone consult with neurology at the big university hospital our county hospital is affiliated with, but it could be caused by seizures or a birth injury. Of course his neuro appt isn't for over a month away. Why does this have to suck. I hate seeing this boy going through all this. He doesn't deserve this crap.

I'm sorry you didn't get better news. My heart is breaking for your sweet boy! I hope you get some answers soon. Agree with SSM, can you ask them to put you on a wait list for a cancellation or get you in somewhere else? You shouldn't have to wait that long!

I'm so sorry about this. Seeing your baby go through that is the worst feeling. This is similar to what I went through with DHs baby brother. Don't let any drs brush you off. Try your best to get him into the neurologist. Not trying to scare you but seizures get stronger with each episode. Hopefully they can give him some kind of anti seizure medication for now. Sometimes it's an infancy thing and they go away by their first birthday. I'm praying for the little guy!

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I used to have seizures as an infant. They used to be brought on by fever. I outgrew them and there are no long term effects.

I know that it is not exactly the same but I just thought it might make you feel a bit better. I hope your lo gets better and you get some answers.

We just got discharged. We'd been there since around 1:30. So, they weren't going to transfer him over because he's still going back to acting his normal self and it wasn't as severe as it could have been. The ER doctor called our NP at the peds office and filled her in on everything, and they are going to try to get him ordered for an outpatient EEG and sedated MRI before we see neuro. I will try to see about a wait list for cancellations, but this appointment was already earlier. The pediatrician's office called after the first one to see if they could get him in sooner than the end of August that they were telling me. That's how we ended up with June 27. For now they want us to try for those tests and see how those and the labs from genetics come back. If the seizures don't change (still only up to 15 seconds) and don't start happening back to back, and he goes back to his normal behavior and disposition, we don't have to bring him in. If that happens, well either go back to the same ER or if he's stable, we may make the drive to the Children's hospital that his specialists work with.

I'm so sorry. Thoughts and prayers for you guys. Keep pushing the neuro office, or ask the ER doc to help get him a sooner appointment. I work for pedi neurologists, the MD referall for something sooner should help you get in within a week or so.

Hoping it is nothing for you! At the first daycare I worked at we had a baby boy who also had seizures but we found that with diet it could be controlled but watching a baby seizing is scary!

Guys, I have the best news in regard to the neurology appointment. My best friend is in the medical field and she was talking with a coworker of hers yesterday about what's happening. Turns out this coworker has a daughter who sees a neurologist at a hospital an hour away from us. My friend called around and and spoke to someone in this pediatric neurology department and they found an appointment for THIS COMING TUESDAY based on him being so young. So the neuro appt got moved up by a month to this other hospital. I am so happy.
