I've noticed a lot of negative self-talk on the board. We all have concerns and insecurities. We are human. But if we don't turn around what we are telling ourselves, it isn't going to matter what support we get on a message board. So, I thought I'd remind you ladies like I remind myself....
In case you forgot, you are a mother now.
Your body is no longer your own.
Your are gaining, stretching, and permanently altering your body.
Some of us are noticing things that are driving us up the wall. Stretch marks. Sun spots. Cellulite. A number on a scale. Acne. Unwanted hair. Back pain. Itchy. Things smell gross. Things taste gross.
I know it may feel like your body is betraying you some days, but in case you forgot....your body is no longer your own.
There is a small child (maybe even two) growing inside of you. Your stretching and gaining are all in order to support this amazing life and to help it grow stronger. In just a few short months, that baby will be born, and your body will be a sense of comfort and life for that baby's new and scary life on earth.
Your legs will allow you to chase that child across the yard for many years to come. And they may eventually walk that child down the aisle at their wedding....and then chase your grandkids across your yard.
Your arms will cradle, hug, and hold your child in times of fear, sadness, and joy.
Your breasts may provide the nutrition your child needs to grow...your stomach, a place to cuddle.
And these body parts will do their job for the entirety of your child's life, even with stretch marks or cellulite.
I don't remember ever looking at my mother and noticing a single flaw....I never knew about cellulite, stretch marks, spider veins, because those things were not relevant to the love a child has for her mother.
So stop stressing. In case you forgot, YOU are bringing forth a miracle.
