NBR: So excited!!!

My ILs live in FL and we live in AZ. My family is here but since my dad passed away almost 5 years ago we have not been as close. My mom has very little relationship with my DS even though we see her once a week. She does have a relationship with my DD. I've talked to my mom about why she treats my DS different and she has BS excuses. It's really sad because my son gets so excited to see her and she could care less. She barely even acknowledges him. On to the good news. My ILs have been talking about moving here for years. We had kind of given up hope since it has been so long. My H was talking to his mom today and she told him that they are for sure moving here as soon as they can. My H's step-dad starts a new job next week working from home and he will have West Coast hours so moving here would be perfect. My MIL is going to start applying for positions here and they are putting their house up for sale. I am so excited! My kids will finally both have loving grandparents that they can see on a regular basis and my H and I can finally have a date night every once in awhile. We haven't had a date night in over 2 years since we don't have anyone to watch our kids.

    Yay for in laws moving close !

    PS. When did your dad pass away ? Any chance your mom is depressed and hence unable to connect with your DS?

    That's exciting!  I'm kind of hoping my ILs end up relocating close to us once we're settled.  I love them to death.

    @Lapooh‌, my dad passed away almost 5 years ago. My ds is 2. I don't think she is depressed and therefore not bonding with him because she is very close to my 3 yo niece.

    My brother always wanted a boy and they had two girls. He's mad that I have a boy and he doesn't. I suspect my mom treats my ds like this because of my brother's issues. My mom has been weird ever since we found out we were having a boy.

    Yay! So happy your IL's are moving closer. Grandparents are so great. I'm sorry that your mom has such a difficult relationship with your DS. I hope calling her out on it makes her more cognizant of her actions towards him.

    That is great news.  I am sorry that your DS has had to go through that.  A friend of mine said she had that similar problem with her in-laws.  She said they favored her SIL's children over hers and her kids supposedly asked her why.
