How much bigger will my boobs get?

I'm a FTM, so this is all new to me. I'm 14 weeks and I've already gone up from a C to a D cup. I just read somewhere they will get even bigger when I start lactating. Is this true? Will they also continue to get bigger throughout the pregnancy? Will they go down when I quit breastfeeding?

I know no one can predict what MY boobs will do, but I'm curious to know what other moms' experiences have been like.

They will keep growing (sorry!) and once your milk comes in, they will get even bigger!! I suggest cheap target or Walmart bras for now :)

They are more likely to get smaller when you stop breast feeding (mine did) but there is a possibility they won't. This happened to my BFF and she already had big boobs!

ETA - mine didn't get bigger last time until my very tiny supply of BM came in.

  • Well, I gained a lot of weight last time. I was 5'7" and about 128lbs and I gained 85lbs. So I went from a 30B to a DD36 and that was before I even gave birth. I pretty much cried in the parking lot after my fitting.

    I nursed for 14 months and after nursing I wore a 30D.

So... That's my tale of woe.

And my boobs didn't look that bad once they shrank back down. Def not as full, but not as tragic as I imagined.

  • I started off as a 34c with DS. 8 weeks in went up to a 36d. Then before giving birth (don't remember exactly when) I went up again to a DD. After birth they did get one size bigger. Before getting pregnant this time I was down to a 34/36 D. Still bigger than my original size but def smaller than at my peak.
  • The only place I got stretch marks was my boobs. AFTER DS was born. Due to engorgement! I literally grew a cup size overnight! Went from a 32 B before pregnancy to a 36DD.

    Fun times!

    Mine have already gone from a solid B to a D :P

I've always been a part of the IBTC so I'm SO stoked about this right now!  Hahaha!  I've been wearing cheap Gap sports bras for comfort and sometimes a big bra I had for stuffing purposes on fancy nights that I now wear proudly with no stuffing!  The Gap bras were like $6 at the outlets so I bought them in every color in Med, Large, and XL just to be safe!

  • Darn! I just spent $50 on a new bra. I'm definitely NOT doing that again. Hopefully once I outgrow it, I'll get to wear it again someday. I'll have to make a trip to Target.

  • With dd I went from a C to and D and up a band size. Then after nursing I went back to a C, but stayed the same band size. This time I'm up to a D again, and I dont expect to get bigger. So you might not hange any more! Just don't go buying a ton of bras ;)
  • I really don't remember my boobs getting bigger until after DD was born. This time around they've already grown a size. But post baby, they were so huge and hard all I could do was wear a sports bra for a month or two
  • I went from a 36 DD to a 36 G. I barely went up when my milk came in. So, I stayed in the same size for nursing. I started this time in a 36DDD and am in a 36 G again.

  • My sister had a baby in September and she said that only her band size went up. I think it's different for everybody

Where did you find the larger ones and were they cheap? I am normally a 38DD and have been tring to get away with sports bras but the headlights are getting way to noticeable

  • I went from B to DD before giving birth. Then somehow even bigger when I first started nursing. But over the next year they gradually went down to their original size. Then smaller. :( It's be a roller coaster ride. But I saved all my pregnant bras with my maternity clothes so they are getting another round now.

  • Oh honey. It's only just begun.

At least, that was my experience! I went from small C to D during my first pregnancy. But once milk came in those babies were HUGE. I didn't even attempt to measure as I didn't wear a cup size - just large nursing bras. I'm guessing I was at least a DD… maybe G… perhaps? They didn't go back to my (more saggy, floppy) C cups until I finished nursing 7 months after birth. It was a sad sight.

Thank you baby #2 for giving me my luscious lumps again!

  • I've heard that if your boobs stay around the same size and didn't grow much during pregnancy that it could be a sign that you will not be able to produce a great quantity of milk. I doubt it's true but was wondering if anyone else has heard this?

I haven't heard that, but wanted to note that my sister mentioned above had no trouble at all breast feeding!!

  • @crystaldh  I feel your pain! I made the same mistake twice already! I'll definitely be staying away from Victoria Secret from here on out lol. They felt good for a few weeks, but now I just try to wear them because I feel silly for spending $50 a piece on them :-/ haha

  • oh yes i so vividly remember my rock hard porn star sized tatas. That milk comes in and bam, holy boobies. I'm still breastfeeding, but they are back to their normal small size.

I was thinking the same thing - there's no way I could feed a baby right now with these tiny boobs. @mexinugget I'll be looking forward to my porn star tatas down the road!

  • I know some brands on barenecessities.com have larger sizes, like Freya, for example (even though I think the sizing is different because it's a British brand). They're not cheap though. I'd be interested in finding out where to go for cheaper bras...

  • Dillards had some that were 2 for $60. I can get the DDD's at Victoria's Secrect. I learned that there is a price to pay when you have a big rack, whether fake or natural. HaHa!

I find it impossible to find cheap bras that fit my larger boobs well. It's like the makes think if you have D sized breast they must be cone shaped. Or you need 2inch wide straps to hold up the bra. I think it is hard to find cheap big bras that don't look like my Grandma's bras! Ugh!

I am a FTM, but I am already dealing with bigger boobs. I had a breast reduction 7 years ago, so having my 36D already at a 38DD is a little depressing cosidering what I went through. My breast were so large previously, they took 1lb of tissue off of each and I still had 36C/D girls depending on the brand. X_X I did end up investing in two good quality 38DD bras and I just rotate them. It was worth it to me when my boobs were already too big for my Ds at week 9.

I started out a DD and was into a (loose) F by week 8-9. Now at almost 13 weeks even the F is getting snug. I don't even know where to go from there?? I usually get my bullet proof vests bras at Lane Bryant- they aren't super cheap but often have sales and I think the bras are pretty much always buy one get one 50% off. Plus they're nice and thick and hide the headlights that are shining ever so brightly these days.
