Pajama recommendations and cloth diapers

Anyone have any recommendations on PJs for bed? We mainly have footies but those snaps can be so tough and such a pain in the dark while half asleep. Baby boy tends to wake up very upset during the process of nighttime changes and I feel so bad. We haven't used sleep sacks since he was swaddled, but wondering if the bigger sacks are good to use?

Along with that, any cloth diaper mamas out there with tips to help prevent leaking at night?

Re: Pajama recommendations and cloth diapers

  • Most brands have zipper footies. Circo from Target, Carter's, Children's Place.

  • I don't mind the snaps, but like PP said, they make zipper ones. They also make 2 piece PJs if you want to go that route.

As far as diapers, it sounds like you need more absorbancy. What are you currently using?

  • I found these and I looooove them! I just put it over a long-sleeved onesie. It's nice because you can put it on even after they're asleep, they snap up at the sleeves so you don't have to mash their arms into something.

I use the 'lite' one now that it's warmer.

  • Oh and on diapers, use an extra insert at night. Not sure what kind you use, but if you use pocket or prefolds, add the newborn insert as well as the regular. You can also buy separate inserts - hemp are the best I've heard. Don't use microfiber ones against their skin, those are only ok for pockets.

  • *Lurker on Dec 13* A prefold with an infant prefold trifolded in it works for us.
  • Another lurker- we use sleep sacks over the long sleeve onsie also. We were also getting CD leaks with our pockets, and extra inserts made them gap at the leg, so we've just switched to fitteds and a cover. I'm trying Sustainablebabyish and Pooters. I also ordered a Disana wool pant to go over the fitted that I'm excited to try. I'll pair that with a tshirt.

  • We use Bum Genius overnight and double stuff them at night. DD wears that diaper double-stuffed overnight for 12 hours with no problems.

This makes me snicker every time I see it. Because I'm 5 years old apparently.

  • When DS started having leaks at night we added a hemp insert and that helped tremendously. We use BumGenius Freetimes if that helps/matters at all. As far as jammies, we're just using cotton zippered footed ones from Target since LO hates the sleepsack.

  • @BoothBaby‌ Thanks! I guess I have a harder time finding the zipper ones! Currently using Grovia hybrids with a booster at night. Hadn't heard if the wool route is good or not?
  • @BootsOrHearts‌ Thanks! I've never seen those!
  • Maybe sub the booster for a more absorbant insert?  Not sure if that might cause the legs to gap though, depending on fit.  You might even be able to use the Grovia outer layer as a cover over a fitted.

We also use a fitted and cover for overnight.  It is pretty much soaked in the morning, but no leaks.  We use GMD fitteds, they are inexpensive compared to some of the fancy ones, and work great.  (greenmountaindiapers.com)
