What's in a name...

When our baby girl was born, one of the doctors in the theater (emergency cs) said the name we picked wasn't cool enough. That name was Nova. A "friend" of mine then said that Nova was a white trash name.. Nice friend right..

So the seeds of doubt have been brewing but also because I never really felt she looked like a Nova..

Here in Sweden we don't had to name our children right away and that's great but also makes it easy to start doubting yourself.

So I put forth to you the choices we have at the moment. Just because I'd like an unbiased opinion.

Nova Rain

Nova Emily

Arya Emily Nicolina

Emily Nicolina

Amelia Emily

Mila Emily

Side note: Emily and Nicolina are our grandmothers names.

That seems like a pretty inappropriate thing for a doctor to say...

I really like Emily Nicolina, but Nova is by no means trashy or uncool, so if you guys love it, keep it. I changed my son's name after he was born too btw...we picked the name that got better reviews from people, but it just didn't sit right with either of us. I made a face when I got his health card with his full name printed out. We changed it to the option that people didn't seem to like as much, but it suits him and we love it. Go with your gut.

I do like Nova, but I'm a fan of unconventional names. Nova Nicolina has a ring to it, of course you could always go with Emily & Nicolina for the middle names, that sounds good too. My other choice would be Mila, I like Arya but that's gonna get a lot of GoT references, which isn't necessarily bad I guess just depends on your style I guess.

We also waited as long as we could to name our guy, I think 4 days. Ended up going completely different than we had anticipated.

I like Nova! My draughts names are Meadow Brooke and Ryver Raine, so I maybe biased. They have white trash in Sweden?

I like traditional names with a family link. I had to imagine calling dd it as a teenager and would other children pick on her at school. My dd has the initials IMP and everyone said I couldn't do it. Ultimately it's what you think and what you like.

I really like Nova actually! But if it doesn't feel right then you should go with something else. We had a couple names picked out for our daughter and as soon as the Doc handed her to me I looked at my husband and said, "we got our Penny" so that solidified it for us. I immediately knew that was her name.

I'm actually fine with Nova. Both of my kids have somewhat unconventional first names for the United States. Of the other options I like Emily Nicolina the best.

i think nova is a pretty awesome name, actually! but i also love mila from your list. emily nicolina flows nicely, though, and emily is a perfectly lovely traditional name as well.

my vote goes to emily, nova or mila for a first name.

I like Amelia and Mila but go with what you like. I hate people's rude comments on naming. I wish we didn't have to name right away but we couldn't leave the hospital without a name so I've second guessed her name a ton, argh.
