Probaby China as far as culture goes, but places like Columbia would make my list just because I'm not a fan of people carrying around machine guns everywhere!
(I've been to 29 countries so far, but I still have a few more on my list to get to!)
South Africa...scary to be driving with the guide through police "checkpoints" with machine guns...and guide keeps on driving because you can't be sure their real cops.

I went all over Ecuador visiting my friend who was in the peace corps there. Definitely not a typical tourist destination but that is what made it so interesting.

Nothing as exotic as some of you well-traveled ladies, but Northern Ireland during marching season was an experience. My ex-bf (a Dublin native) and I were in Belfast during a bomb scare. The way the police in their armored trucks w/machine guns on top rolled up, and the gates on the sidewalks swung shut to close down the roads, all in the middle of the city... it was pretty crazy.
The police stopped us for questioning b/c the ex had Dublin plates, and they quizzed him on why we were there, and implied he was an IRA-sympathizer and there for the bombing. Me w/my American accent saved the day by talking them out of it and explaining we were just tourists... The next day a bomb DID go off, so the police were right to be vigilant.
Re: NBR: what's the craziest country you've visited?

France. Just don't go to Paris wearing a dress showing your white legs. The Parisian women were very offended by me!
Also, everybody tried to scam us in Rome.
never left US.
sad for me.
Russia for the machine guns and different outlook on life and how to get things done
Peru for the generally different way of life and of course Machu Picchu is crazy in a really cool way
