C-sections

Funky Smell from incision.

I had a c section on the 30th and for the past day or so i have noticed a funky smell coming from my incision. Not a bad smell, just.. a smell. I still have my steri strips on, my doctor told me to leave them on until they fall off. Everyone says their doctor told them to remove their strips after a couple weeks but since my doctor told me to leave them on until they fall off im scared to remove them. Some of the strips are crusty, im wondering if the smell is from the strips, or i know dissolving stitches can start to smell too. Its not oozing, leaking or showing any signs of infection. Anyone else have their incision smell? Is this normal or something i should be concerned about?

Nope, haven't had that experience but my doc always told me to make sure the incision was nice and dry so after showers I was told to use my hair dryer and blow cool air on it. Maybe it's just the mlisture in that area that is causing that odd smell. Try to keep it dry as much as you can. I doubt the steri strips have anything to do with that. Mine stayed on for a looong time and there was no smell or anytning.

  • If there is no sign of infection I would say it I from the strips. I too had a smell from mine and there were looking gross so I "helped" mine fall off and the smell went with them
