Question for you ladies...has anyone ever just
been prescribed clomid and IUI alone for their treatment? And if so,
did your doctor monitor you through the process with u/s. I guess I'm
just trying to understand because my RE is doing none of these things
which leads me to wonder if I am responding to the medications or not.
I have read that you can detect an LH surge and still not ovulate. I
would think that being on the clomid alone, he would be doing some kind
of monitoring with all of the side effects especially the thinning of
the lining. I called the nurse today and asked about having an
ultrasound and she said that the doctor just wants me to use the opk
and contact the office when it's positive. Does this sound ok to you
guys? I feel that if I'm spending the money for these IUI's then I
should at least have some monitoring to know if I'm indeed responding
to the treatment. Please let me know your thoughts.

I would insist on monitoring and I am surprised an RE (vs and OB) isnt doing this.
Exactly...I've been getting the run around from the nurse and I can't get in touch with the RE. What's so surprising is that I know a lot of women here in Houston that have used this RE and have had great success...they feel as if he hangs the moon. But I don't feel that he is doing enough for me. DH and I are considering going to a new RE...I just don't want to wast time starting over.
My OB prescribed Clomid for 6 months. I took it for 2 months without monitor. I was beyond frustrated because I didn't know if it was helping me; therefore, I made an appointment with an RE. I had my first IUI on Dec. 21st. I had an u/s on CD 3 and CD 10 (which revealed I had 1 large follicle). I had an LH blood test on CD 10 to make sure I was surging. I was told to take my trigger shot on the night of CD 10 because I had a follicle ready and I was surging. So yes, I was monitored during my IUI. I would either try to trust your RE, which is easier said than done, or find a new RE that monitors. I'm not sure if this is true but I've heard those OPKs aren't always accurate at detecting a surge.
