Eat healthy... !?

I am struggling with this part. A lot. I KNOW I need to though, but it's like I want everything bad!! Sausage egg and cheese biscuits, pizza, whoppers, big macs. LORD HELP ME. I try to limit this stuff but I feel like I still eat it way more then I should. It's not just the fact that it's fattening, it's not healthy either. Been trying to walk some too. Have a couple preggo work out dvd's I have yet to open. I get home from work and want to go straight to the couch (with a pit stop to the fridge)

This is my first ... I'm terrified that if I don't turn things around I'm going to be unrecognizable after the birth.

I need motivation!!! :)

The first couple weeks of eating healthy are the hardest. After that, I promise it gets better! I think the best way to try and eat healthier is to also allow yourself to eat junk once or twice a week :) that way we can still get our pregnancy cravings in ;)

ETA - I'm on a diet during this pregnancy because I have a fatty liver. I'm eating healthy and feel great!

  • I'm also struggling with this. I want to just live off of pizza and lasagna and fried ravioli. I don't eat meat anyway and fruits and veggies turn my stomach right now. It's all starch and cheese....and since I'm heavy anyway, that's just not good. I also need to get some walking in. But it's getting hot. My first thought when looking outside is 'But....I don't want to go'

I feel the same way, but for a different reason.  Food aversions have been terrible for me!  Pasta is my go to comfort food, and honestly, if it doesn't make me want to barf I'm going to eat it!  I have lost a few pounds because of my limited menu, but the doctor says things should be looking up soon!  I do find if I get out for a quick walk I feel refreshed...now that the weather is nice I'm hoping it gives me more motivation! LOL!
  • I'm having a hard time with this too. DH works crazy long hours, and I care for my grandma and work full time, and most of the time I just need something quick since I still get crazy sick to my stomach is I don't eat when I start to feel hungry. I have been better about eating more fruit (not so much on veggies though) but I still find myself heading for greasy goodness when I'm in a hurry. I have today off and have big ambitions for a healthy dinner. I love to cook, but holy cow, I am wore out and all I've done is vacuumed and showered, lol.

Sounds like Fast Food Restaurants are calling your name. Anyway to avoid driving past them or not drive past them hungry or have a healthier snack in your car/purse?
For some people it works to link it to money. Doing something like limiting yourself to $5 or $10 per week for those unhealthy fast food cravings (or whatever amount reduces your intake, you decide the amount.) Keep the money in cash in a envelope and when the cash is gone for the week you can't buy anymore.
Think about what limiting mechanism works for you whether it is cutting back or cutting out. Either way find another find something to fill the void or the deprevation will be too hard.
  • Man, I hate fast food, but for some reason all I am craving is salty gross things!!!! I try to stick to chick-fil-a if I eat fast food, and get something either grilled or their chicken salad sandwich, along with the side salad instead of fries - but I can't kick the lemonade! I have a huge craving for spicy so I've been cooking A LOT of Mexican food.

You can make the gross things yourself at home - pizza, burgers, tacos, and it won't be as unhealthy!!

If it's just that its easier, take a day and cook - make a big crockpot meal, a couple other things like pasta salad, fruit salad, fajita meats, things like that, that you can just grab out of the fridge. You can even make a large batch of pancakes and freeze some, and just pop them in the microwave when you get hungry for them. I don't know how well eggs hold up in the freezer, but I know you can do this with sausage too.
