Extended BF question - will LO still want to nurse?

I'm planning ahead here, but when my LO is a little over a year old, I'll be going out of town for 3 nights without her. After her 1st birthday, my plan is to nurse morning and night and cut out daytime pumping sessions … should have this done by the time of my trip. If I then spend three days without LO, will she want to nurse when I get back? Or will my absence play into her weaning herself?

I'd like to be able to come home and continue nursing AM and PM but I'm concerned that the time apart will get in the way. I've only been way for one night previously and it hasn't affected nursing at all.

  • I would also say it depends on your baby.  I was away from my 19 month old for 3 nights a few weeks ago and he wanted to nurse as soon as I walked in the door.

  • If your DD isn't showing any signs of weaning, I doubt she'll wean in your 3 day absence. I just left my 18 month old overnight for the first time. She was fine without me there but when I got back she was majorly attached to me and my boobs.

Thanks, everyone, for your advice. And very impressive, @theresat858, that your boobs can tell time!
