Need to return baby shower gift, no receipt...how?

I received a Medela pump for my baby shower but I don't need it because my insurance will pay for one for me. It wasn't on my registry but I've heard you can add it and mark it as purchased and babies r us will accept it as a return. I do not have a receipt. What other info would they need if I do return it there? Is the fact that it says purchased on my registry enough to return it? Thanks in advance!!

  • I just shower on Sunday and returned to both buy buy baby and bru without receipts. As long as the items scan into their systems they will accept and you get a gift card for the amount.

I've returned gifts to Walmart, Target & BRU without a receipt and they weren't on my registry. As long as it's something they sell they'll take it back & give you a gift card. We had to Google a lot of things after our wedding to find out where they were sold so we could return them.

As long as the company sells the item, they should accept it as a return and give you store credit.

  • Target has a max amount that they will give you per year without a receipt. When I was pregnant with DD, I got two swings, so I made a registry and added the swing to it before I returned it. They accept a registry as a receipt.

We didn't have any trouble returning anything with DS to Target, WM or Walgreens without a receipt. We just told them we got it at a baby shower & didn't have a receipt. Good luck!

  • When I made my BRU registry they told me that breast pumps are only returnable unopened for 6 months past the purchase date... so they may give you a hard time because they dont know the purchase date there. Just a heads up!
  • I don't know if target has a max with a red card either. I constantly return stuff without receipts and they just scan my red card.

They look it up on your RedCard. It stores all of your purchases made on it.

I would've never thought to Google where the gifts were from - brilliant!

That's what I meant...I wonder if there's a limit using your red card and returns .

Huh ? No, because it's using your redcard (or debit card or credit card) to recall, let's call it....a virtual receipt. Only if they can't recall it on any of the cards you provide them should it count towards a limit.
