So, I've only explored here- obviously.
I've lurked all the other boards.
I have a few questions, help a sista out...
Are the ttgp girls really vultures??? Hahahaha

Parenting: snark? Love bugs? Saints?

Baby names: bulldogs or skittles?

What boards do you love to hate? Love to stalk? Grab the popcorn for?

I may tiptoe around but I'm skeered!!!

they are full of snark and it's hilarious! Baby names - they really aren't that bad. If you have a bad name, they will tell you. Namely with NMS. As long as it's an actual name and spelled right and not trendy it's fine. I also lurk the trimester boards but I usually don't have a problem is I post on a thread as what I say goes with what the ladies are like there. They can be scary but USUALLY only if you're a dumbass. There are exceptions of course

I lurk on parenting. They have lots of long threads. But it seems more fun then negative from what I've seen.

SAHM board is a lot of snark.

Those girls are great! Sure, there's snark but they also have a ton of knowledge & support to give. Plus all the Am I pregnant?! posts can be amusing.

I love to grab some popcorn and hit the 1st try board. I have posted in the past, but I am hesitant to get involved to deep (I think I have once, but that was it). Mostly because I agree with @lisaren, it's kinda scary.

The Baby Showers board is a bit like the etiquette nazi board. I find it amusing but those ladies are serious.

The tri boards are a bit too snarky for my taste. Or at least 1st tri was, I don't have a sense of 2nd tri yet.

The multiples board is pretty awesome.

I agree with @Maelara that Baby names is pretty straightforward; people will give opinions but they definitely have a bias (as do I) against super trendy or made up names with made-up spellings, but in general people are pretty respectful about their dislike of those names.

Cloth diapering is super informative and helpful if you're thinking of going that route.

I've been lurking parenting and it seems to be ok as long as you don't rock the boat. This can also be a highly entertaining board.

TTGP has always been a source of entertainment to me. I grab my popcorn for that board for sure (sorry girls!)

I just stayed on ttcal before here. Lurked pgal for friend's updates & bump pics, as pgal is the ttcal graduate board.

For entertainment, ttgp. It's just a huge mesh of ladies, always something going on there.

Confession: I may have creepy lurked ttgp frequently enough that I recognized some of you ttgp'ers $:\$ ">

That's the only other one I've checked out, I'm a loyal N14'er and I have a hard enough time keeping up with this one some days!

I used to consider SAHM my home board, but it's been slow there lately and now I spend most of my time on parenting. More fun and silly and lively conversations.

Some of the specialty boards are slow but really informative. Breast feeding, cloth diapering, attachment parenting (for baby wearing advice) and natural birth are all good boards with sound advice and rarely any trolls.

I've lurked on adoption before, when we were ttgp we were also applying to be a foster family, so I went over there and gleaned all the information that I could.

The thing about the "specific" boards is that most of those ladies are there because that topic is important to them. So, of course they are a little more...defensive? Because it's their home. I lurk the cloth diaper board, those ladies are nice.

I also wanted to add this: the best boards are the ones where the core group of posters is large enough that they still find things to debate and disagree on every week.

Some boards (not naming any names here) are comprised of a smaller group of folks who basically all agree with each other and spend their time patting each other on the back and/or ganging up on anyone who shares a dissenting view.

One of the things I think is interesting about the bump is that it's so different from the community I'm from, so I KNOW I'm going to get a different set of answers here than I would if I asked a mom I know IRL. Even if I don't agree with someone, I'm still curious why they make those choices or where their perspective comes from.

Yup, this and this.....Baby Shower board is NUTS!! I just lurk there now after I got my head bit off for the book thing, Those whackos are still at it too. I'd rather cause a ruckus here....N14 all the way!
