Formula feeders...Stage 1 vs Stage 2?

Help please! I'm new to this (EPer in the process of weaning) we use Similac and have since the beginning to supplement.  We had been getting Stage 1 but the other day DH came home with Stage 2. I'm confused bc stage 1 says 0-12 months and stage 2 says 6-12 months use with solids.  LO is eating solids but only 2 times a day....which do I use? I am trying to google and not getting any clear answer.

Re: Formula feeders...Stage 1 vs Stage 2?

  • Sorry, I've never heard of that. We have used similar advance (the blue bottle) since I started supplementing at one month. The difference might be the iron in one vs two?

  • I never heard of this either. We use similac sensitive and used similac for supplementation when bfing. Hmm.

  • We feed LO solids and still use stage 1 Similac Advanced. I think the stages is a new development with Similac.

I have never heard of it, but I say if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Stick with what you have been feeding IMO. We are Similac Sensitive users.

  • I've been wondering the same thing!
  • Never heard of it and DS1 was on Similar Soy then Similar Advanced.

My guess is that either one would be fine since you are feeding solids. You could look up the difference in ingredients or calorie content.

After my further googling it looks like the "stages" is a new thing...so not surprising no one knows about it. They also changed the "early shield" symbol to "optigrow" whatever that means. The problem is the stage 2 is the only one I can find in the large can (at a few different stores). Wish I had both y me now to compare but I don't...and the Similac website isn't much help either!
