Using Babyli.st?

Has anyone had any experience with registering at Babyli.st? I guess this might be more for BTDT moms, but anyone with insight can answer! I like the idea of it. Our shower will be out of town (hosted by my MIL and SIL) and basically no baby stores that are down there exist within an hour of me, and vice versa. I though that using something like babyli.st might make it easy for me to be able to register for stuff at stores HERE and THERE and have it show up on the same registry, along with options for finding those items on amazon, etc. It'll be great for our tech-savvy friends in both locations, especially those that have asked about what we need but who i know wouldn't be able to attend the shower. I'm a little more worried about older family members not understanding that when an item says it is available at a certain website it also means that it is available at that store- in person- too.

Has anyone used Babyli.st and have any feedback to share? Were people totally confused, or did people like it? Maybe I should post this on the baby shower board, but I don't like them as much. :p

  • No experience with that site, but we did an Amazon registry bc of the "here and there" items. I got some flack from my mom about it possibly not being as shopping friendly for the "elderly" people. I had a BRU registry too so I never worried about it. Sounds like a good option for you if you don't have any baby stores around!

  • Yeah we really don't have a lot of registry options here. We have "city target" which is basically a limited version of a regular target, with a teeny tiny baby section. We have a PBK Kids store about an hour away. Our nearest BRU is about 40 minutes away, but it's just a corner of a toys-r-us with a  very limited selection. There is a Buy Buy Baby about an hour away... so yeah, not a lot of baby stores here!

  • I'm using Babylist right now and I don't have shower plans yet, so not too many people have looked into it yet, but a friend of mine reserved something on my registry and said it was cool how it comes from stores all over. And even my mom (who isn't too tech savvy) was able to figure it out so it can't be too confusing.

Also, I just got an email from them today, and they do completion coupons for the multiple sites you register from. So basically you get the discounts from all the stores instead of just the one you would have if you registered there. Sounds pretty sweet if you ask me!

  • I'm using babylist too... My MIL bought something in the store and reserved it online. It seems to be pretty straightforward. I think the benefits of multiple stores definitely outweigh how it's a little more complicated. And yeah, just got the email about the completion coupons, which is great because it's the only thing I was missing from a regular registry.

So can you add BBB/ BRU/ amazon to it?

You can add stuff from any website. I have a lot from target, bru, and amazon on mine. But also ikea, land of nod, etc.

  • Thanks for the feedback ladies. I think I'm going to go ahead and jump on in with babyli.st.

  • I have a Babylist. I love it, it's so organized! I don't have much experience yet with how user friendly it is for those purchasing items but I shall know soon. My first baby shower is June 21.
